Retina MBP's serial shows incorrect amount of ram?

Is it at all common, or even possible that a serial on a Retina Macbook Pro would show 8GB of ram, when in fact it has 16GB?

Obviously you can't upgrade the ram yourself with Retina models, so I figure it must just be a mistake on Apple's end?

Right! I have seen different "apple serial" style sites that don't list ram, they just say "CTO" (custom to order i think?)

@Meister is correct, serial numbers don't contain information about the amount of RAM. Your model was custom configured with 16 GB but came standard with 8 GB, so that's why it's shown as having 8 GB.
