    Play at 1920 x 1200 instead of 1920 x 1080.

Your screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio, and 1080p is a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Use a 16:10 resolution like one of these:

    1280x800

    1440x900

    1680x1050

    1920x1200

    2560x1600

    2880x1800

The 17" MBP is the only known MBP to have the best gaming experience that I know of full screen no problem.

Nice. But how is that relevant to the OP's question? Any MBP can run anything full screen, as long as the aspect ratio is correct. Which in the OP's case it originally wasn't, but now is.

Then try it on 1440x900 or 1680x1050.

Thats just 10% difference in pixel count, if the game runs to slow with 1920x1200 then it can't be running well with 1920x1080...
