You can try the Disk Drill app to see if that will do a better job of recovering your files. You will need another scratch disk to copy the recovered files to as you can not recover files on the same external disk for fear of overwriting other files yet to be recovered.

Note: If you had TRIM activated on that external SSD, the chance of a full recovery of deleted files will be diminished.

Thunderbolt, not encrypted; not certain about trim.
I’ve tried two commercial programs. Looking for Logic x file retrieval specifically.

What "solutions" did you use?

How many of these files did you "get back"?
Just a few?
Or... a lot of them?

If "user-level" data recovery software can't get back the data you want, you could try a professional data recovery firm, but be forewarned: they are VERY expensive. We're talking about the possibility of thousands of dollars.

Hmmm....
You said the files were on an SSD?
That changes things, in a very bad way.
Retrieving deleted data from an SSD is much less likely than doing so from a platter-based hard drive.
My guess is that what you've "gotten back" now, is "all you're going to get".

You may just have to write this off, and start over.

In the future, I'd suggest running an "immediate backup" on your project SSD whenever you finish a session.

Trim will make all the difference. If it's on and there was more than a few minutes between the delete and discovery, then it's game over.

However the fact you say you were able to recover some files would seem to indicate that the drive was not Trim enabled.

If it had TRIM, which TB supports, then just forget about it.

If there was no TRIM, then you might be able to get some or maybe all recovered, depending on if the info was written over.

You can check the status of TRIM support in the system profile, but IIRC, it is automatically enabled on a Mac that came with a SSD. Otherwise, it has to be manually enabled.

Hello Richard,

My name is Vishal and I work with Stellar Data Recovery.

I would like to know if you are trying to recover ".LOGICXFile" Extension?

You also mentioned, you tried a couple of data recovery programs. I wonder if you already tried Stellar Data Recovery Free Edition for Mac? WAV is the output file of the Logic Pro tool whereas you might be looking for the project file.

Please let me know; may be I can share some useful information with you.

Thanks
Vishal

I am interested in the project files. I have hundreds of wav files that were recovered that are useless to me. I tried two different programs-don’t remember the names I’ll look at the prog you mentioned
