I ordered a customized MBP 14” online and the machine was just shipped. I just realized I used my credit card instead of gift card as the payment method.
Once I receive it, can I return and repurchase the exact same machine in an apple store? (Even though it’s opened and a customized configuration)

to return and repurchase I mean not actually return but pay with a different payment method

When I worked in retail years ago, that was a pretty typical post-Christmas transaction. Unless things have radically changed, I can't see them saying no to that.

I did a similar thing a few years ago (not for a gift card but to take advantage of an apple promotion that was not available when I ordered my Mac), and I had no problem to "return" my MacBook in store and "buy" it right away with the promotion. I don't see why you couldn't do it either, because except if you're outside your 14 days return window, you still can ask for a total refund, no matter what your reason is.

Call Apple and see what's possible or not

Don’t know what country you’re in. At least in Canada, Apple stores cannot do this if it is a custom order.

Thanks, was your machine customized that doesn’t exist in the apple store and already opened?

In US
This is what I’m concerned about.
Cause this is a customized machine that doesn’t list in store, I’m not sure they can resell it directly in store

I don't think you are going to find out other than by calling Apple and asking; they are pretty responsive.

The only thing I have done that is remotely similar, is go into an Apple store (in California) and return and repurchase my new Apple Watch (ordered online) in order to change the band to a different color. Essentially they swapped the band, but on paper they returned the whole watch plus band, refunded me, then resold the same watch (physically the same watch, i.e., the same serial number) plus a different band back to me for the same price.

Not really the same situation as you, but has a few common elements.
