Traditional my mom and dad have bought my phone as my bday gift even though I am a grown woman with kids of my own. Anyway, my AUP was on her credit card for the 7plus so to preorder easily I had to do it under her name again. I tried to do a Verizon phone in case I want to use it on Verizon someday. I do have a Verizon and an att account. For some reason I couldn’t order a Verizon phone or pre-order day...

I can get a Verizon phone but it involves starting the contract over. I told my mom I would pay for this phone and put it on my credit card because it is so expensive. She said fine but it not likely to let me do it when the time comes. Would you just leave it as is and keep the Att phone?

It really depends on service for me. I could not use an ATT phone as there is little to no service in my rural area. Verizon and Sprint are the only ones that offer service with enough signal strength. Now if all is equal between the two as far as service goes, I would look at cost per month. Who ever offers the cheaper monthly bill would win for me. BTW: the verizon iphone will have a more versatile and stronger modem because it will be a qualcomm as compared to the intel modem in the ATT phone.

When you say starting the contract over what are we talking about? One month? If so if you can get your paws on a VZW model I'd go for it.

BUT be aware some people on the forum have reported buying a VZW phone via their account to use with ATT or TMob and it would not activate. I bought a VZW phone to use with TMob from Apple in-store (I don't have a VZW account) and had no problem when I put my TMob SIM in. Just a data point. My understanding is that all VZW smartphones are suppose to be unlocked regardless.

The phone will stay on att for the foreseeable future. I will keep at att and a Verizon line. As of right now, I don’t pay the payment for my X but I will for surely have to pay it if I exchange. Trying to decide if it makes sense to exchange but have to pay for it versus possibly getting the phone for free.

If your staying on AT&T, why would you want a Verizon version? You won’t notice any difference in the way the phone performs. Sounds like you upgrade every year so next year you’ll have a chance to switch to Verizon if you choose to

Only thing I can think of is for traveling...I might want to take one phone with me and if I picked Verizon, would it be better to have Verizon while traveling. I haven’t been able to tell a difference when home between Verizon and Att’s coverage. Both seem pretty equal.

I’m sure you’ll make the best decision for yourself. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your X regardless

Either iPhone will work throughout most of the known world. I have only had issues in remote areas of China where only CDMA would work (require Verizon model).

It the USA, you will not likely notice any difference except maybe at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.
