Do i need a good reason to return my recently purchased 8 or can I just tell the Apple store it doesn't work for me?

Thanks

You don't need to convince them or give them a good story.
Just be honest and tell them the truth. They will still allow you to return it.
Thanks to both posters. The basic reason is this, I have never had an iPhone butt dial more than my 8. I am carrying it in the same belt holder I had my 6S in. Never put it in my pocket and always have a case on it yet in the 8 days I have had it, it has butt dialed 5 times. My 6s never butt dialed.
Secondarily, in all honesty I am not all that impressed with it, at least not $700 worth of impressed.

Wow you use a belt holder?! That reminds me of early 2000 when people carried phones like that.

I used to carry my phones in leather holsters on my belt. But I got to the point where the iPhones are was too big with a Plus models to carry anymore and it's cumbersome. I managed to adapt to caring my previous iPhone Plus in my pocket, which is still awkwardly large, but it is what it is.

Isn't pocket carry what cause iPhone bendgate? ;)

belt holster is not the stamp of senior citizenship.

Bend gate was only for the 6 plus a few years ago. Since then no more reports on any future devices bending.

But bendgate was mitigated, at that time, by belt holstering. Apple then beefed up the frame which explains why just about everyone I see, under 50, carries their phone in the back pocket. :)
Personally, I don't like carrying in my pocket, at least in winter time when I am in jeans. Summer time yes, the phone goes in my cargo shorts pocket. YMMV

[doublepost=1513352703][/doublepost]I’m a senior citizen and I use a belt holster.Cant get used to putting my phone in my pocket. Have a X and don’t want to break it. Back pocket is a bad idea in my opinion, set on it and maybe brake it?

I have been using a leather belt case/holster for as long as I have had a cell phone, and that goes back a looooong time.

I guess I just like to rock it old school. :)

I just don't feel comfortable with a phone in my pocket and it just feels much more natural on my belt. To me it's the same reason people don't carry a gun in their pocket and use a belt holster instead.

Not by my experiences. When I owned my iPhone 6 Plus, I never had issues with any bending at all when I carried it inside my pocket (In front or back). But I was also conscious to make sure that I was not negligent when sitting on it like some did either. But I see the point you're making.

No, as others said before the conversation got deflected, you don't need any reason at all within the 14 day return period. If you bought it without any carrier subsidies or contracts (that is, paid full price and bought it at an Apple store) after November 15, the return period extends to January 8.

Something is wrong with your 8. I pocket my phone and don't believe ever had a butt dial. It's nearly impossible with the unlock procedure, especially in a holster. BTW, holsters are the best invention ever for phones. I used one until my sister made a comment many years ago and shamed me into not using it any more. You clearly have thicker skin than me. I admit, it's the best way to carry a phone. Too bad I'm too insecure to use one.

I agree hence why it is gone as of about 45 minutes ago. No fuss no muss, the Apple guy was as surprised as you and me.

Fully agreed. Wasn’t my sister who commented but I think some colleagues. :/

That belt holster would be good for tiny nokia phones... not so for smartphones, the length is too long it gets in the way

I actually tried a leather belt holster for my iPhone 7 Plus last year and it looked absolutely ridiculous on my waist, almost like a gun holster it was that big. So I decided to go back to pocketing it.
