Did anyone ever figure out for certain if you are able to return/rebuy an unopened iPhone on iUP?
FWIW, a local Apple Store employee that it could not be done, because "the IMEI would be burned." But these guys aren't always right.

I’d like to know this as well

I returned my IPhone X purchased on IUP on Friday instore.

I was unable to pick up a New 8 Plus. There were issues processing a new order on IUP.

A team lead advised that I need to wait 24 hours.

The return has been processed and I have even had an email back from Citizens one to advise that loan has been cancelled.

When I try and upgrade online I get the same message that IPhone upgrade is pending.

How long do I have to wait before I can repurchase on IUP?

You can return and rebuy, but if you are trying to do this with the X, you run the risk of someone else taking your phone. I wanted to switch from the Next program to IUP, and the guy at the Apple store said I could, but I run the risk of when I was returning and applying for the iUP someone could select that Phone for pick up and get. I decided it was not worth it.

I paid online fully and went to the store to repurchase on IUP. The person there said they covered it in training. It was returned as an open item but I just got the same open item back.

I heard otherwise. If it’s pegged as open item, it HAS to go back to warehouse.

As for the # of days, I’d assume 5 business days.

I returned my X to do exactly that. No issues at all. The lady at the store said the phone was mine, even during that limbo period.

Same here. But the guys at the store made sure they had the same one in stock. As soon as they brought out the phone, the rep clicked the “return” button.

That’s how they did mine. She had to work with someone in the back though to do it. She said it wasn’t a simple procedure and she needed help to do it but they did get training on it.

This is wrong. I returned two opened phones and repurchased them under different conditions (one using IUP, one paid in full). Most definitely does not going back to the warehouse. You get the same phones back.

Dang it! I freaking hate my Apple store. I drove 1 1/2 on Friday to get this done, and they told me that crap. I was not about to take the chance someone could get my iPhone X. This is about 5th this Apple store has screwed me over.
