iPad Return refurbished iPad directly to Apple store

I purchased a refurbished ipad 3 but am having second thoughts now and may just purchase an ipad 4 on friday. Will the apple store allow me to return a refurbished ipad 3 directly to them? Any issues if it has been opened?

After 25 minutes on hold at my local store the answer is that a refurbished ipad can be returned directly to the store within 14 days of pushing the order button online.

My local apple store says they accept returns up to 14 days after you RECEIVE your item.
