So my grandparents who live in Florida bought me the "new" MacBook Pro 13". I have decided to go with the Air for school.

I have not opened the MacBook and would like to return. I have no reciept as it was bought in Florida. I called the Apple Store and asked if I could return it. The lady tried to look up the reciept but couldn't find. She told me since they couldn't find the reciept, it was the managers discretion and he wasn't available.

The Apple Store is about an hour away, so I was curious if anyone had luck with this at all. I just don't want to have to drive out there if this is against the company's policies.

Anyone have luck with this? Again it's still sealed.

Not sure about Apple, but most stores allow you to at least do an exchange without a receipt, or give you store credit.

Did your grandparents give any email address or pay with a card at purchase. They definitely should be able to look it up. Anyways, because you are looking to get the Air, just take it to either Apple Store or a Best Buy and you can do an exchange and get whatever maybe leftover on a gift card. Apple Store and Best Buy will both take it as long as the item has not been opened. So if there is a Best Buy closer, just go there. Make sure to bring in your ID, I think they only allow one no-reciept return every 3 months, so they keep a record and require ID.
