Having been a regular AirPods Pro user - which I absolutely love and use every day - I decided for the first time to take the plunge and get the new on-ear AirPods Max 2 for home use only, especially when watching movies or tv shows for a more immersive experience. I tested them for music, podcasts and movies etc and did not notice a hugely discernible difference to my much smaller and convenient AirPods Pro, apart from slightly better bass response which is to be expected. My biggest issue was the sheer weight and bulk of them, with discomfort setting in over the top of my head from the 'canopy' after about 90 minutes usage and then, after about two hours, I just wanted to take them off to allow my head to 'breathe' again. Why are they even described as 'pods' - a word that denotes small or portable -when they are literally the opposite? I returned them and I am happy to continue with the AirPods Pro until Apple redesign the Max headphones. Also, 579 Euro is an obscene amount to pay for headphones: I expected absolute perfection for that price but they are a disappointment.

I hear you, they’re really heavy. They sound very good, but nothing special, and you can’t adjust the sound.
I recommend the Bose QuietComfort Ultra 2. They’re amazing, extremely light and comfortable even after hours of wearing them. the ANC is incredible, and they sound great (and adjustable). In my opinion, nothing else on the market beats them in all the aspects mentioned.(and I've owned/tried pretty much every highly rated ANC headphones)

Thanks for reply. I’d love the Bose but I like staying in the Apple ecosystem and the frictionless way headphones connect to Apple TV and iPhone etc. I’ll probably get the next AirPods Max with a lighter redesign and better chip
