Bought a MacBook Pro 13" via online store. After a couple of days I got the blank screen 3 beeps ram issue.. Talked to Applecare to arrange a new machine, which was straight forward, tho the Lady on the phone did confuse me a little!! she said just pop the MacBook in any box with the return number on the out side...?

Surely I would have to return it with all its original packaging!!!??

I don't think it matters TBH,

If you want to keep the box, go ahead. Don't want to buy a shipping one? Use the original.

That being said, I have never had to return a mac.

I used original because Apple asked to pack it up like it was

Yeah they normally ask for you to place everything in its original box, and then package it in a bigger brown box or something.

Attach one return label to the outside, and leave one inside.
