Returning iMac for New Model

When would the cut of point be for people who bought iMacs recently?

A friend got theirs on the 14th of this month from the Apple Store with student discount. Basic config, nothing added.

Is it an easy process returning them, being refunded and replacing order?

She's installed some applications, would need to wipe it herself?

she should do a new install. she has until the 27th of oct to return it. some would argue the 28th. But if you count the 14th as day 1 then the 27th is the 14th day.

mac minis are easy to return.
I never returned an imac.
everything I ever returned in 14 days or less has been easy to do.
