I have a 8Gb iPhone 3G and I jailbroke it, and I’m having some reception problems. I get the NO SERVICE display even though there is reception and to make it work again I have to restart the iPhone and the reception is back, eventually (after a couple of hours) the same thing happens, so the same process.
I already restored as a new iPhone, made a reset from the iPhone “Erase all content and settings”, and changed the SIM card for a new one.
I’ve checked with friends with iPhones and they don’t seem to have that problem.
So, is there anything I can do to solve the NO SERVICE? Or how can I delete all traces of jailbreak so that the Genius Bar personnel don’t detect it, and void my warranty?

Just restore your iPhone in iTunes and it will go back to factory settings and you will be OK to return the device to an Apple store.

since you probably jailbroke with pwnage/quickpwn there will be no trace of jailbreak after a restore, you are good to go.

    are you sure?

i dont know guys. I talked to a rogers representative and he said that even if you restore and register as new iphone, apple can still detect that youve jailbroken it. Has anyone actually sent a restored and jailbroken iphone to apple and they accepted it?

If you performed Erase All Content and Settings then there is ZERO evidence of jailbreak.

same "No Service" problem on jailbroken 3G

Good to know about no trace of a Jailbreak. Just making sure no new info on this exists either way. I Jailbroke my iphone 3G 2.2.1 (5H11) w/ Pwnage Tool about 6 months ago with no problems until a few days ago when I could no longer get service to make or receive calls or texts (can get wifi). The iPhone is still under warranty (unless warranty gets voided by Apple). I've called AT&T and Apple tech support and searched these boards with no luck in finding a fix to restore service signal. Next steps are a Restore via iTunes + possibly a trip to the Apple store if that doesn't help. :(

I'm on a Mac OSX 10.4.11 running iTunes 8.1.1 if this helps any. Thanks!

I've taken previously jailbroken iPod touches to the Apple store twice (one with a screen that stopped working, and one with a battery that stopped holding charge). I restored them to factory firmware before I went, and both times the genius swapped them for me. They did run some kind of diagnostic test on them, but I don't think they ever checked to see if it had been jailbroken.

"No Service" problem on jailbroken 3G FIXED!

I restored the iPhone 3G 2.2.1 in iTunes 8.2 and the AT&T phone signal immediately returned! I thought for sure I'd need to restore then return it to the Apple store. Not sure, but it may have had something to do with updated carrier settings that were installed when I restored the phone? Maybe these settings did not update on on the Jailbroken phone causing me the loss of service. Anyhow, I miss my Jailbroken iphone but am hesitant to perform another Jailbreak after the experience. A bitter sweet resolution, I suppose. Glad it's now working though!
