I just received the MBA 11" Tuesday. It's custom built, and it's beautiful and all...but I think the 13" might be the better option. I know Apple is good for returning items, but here's the issue: that gift card I received with it has been used a bit.

If I brought my 11" into an Apple Store, could I simply trade up to the 13" and pay the difference? My worry is that since it's custom built, I would have to ship it back, and since I don't have the gift card, it would be an incomplete order.

Thanks in advance! :)

Typically Apple doesn't accept returns on custom configurations. May need to call them.

In either case, they'll likely bill you for the $100 card (or keep $100 from your refund).

Since it is CTO, you'll have to ship it back, and they will refund you minus $100 (gift card). You can reorder whatever 13 you want.

Since he'd be getting a new $100 GC with the new purchase I don't see what the difference would be. Seems like Apple should just withhold the GC on the next purchase.

That being said, it's their policy and they can do whatever they want ;)
