a google search of ".rev files" would lead you to winRAR, and then search for "winrar for mac" will lead you to programs to open the files.

Searching for "winrar for mac" won't help, I'm guessing the old wizard never tried. Most rar applications on the mac don't support .rev files as the open source library that many are built on don't support .rev files. Even the official command line version of unrar doesn't have any documentation supporting .rev files.

I have tried UnRARX & the Unarchiver. I have not tried Stuffit because I find that it causes more problems than it solves (by overriding the operating system defaults for some extraction file types).

For now, I fire up window's WinRar.

Interesting, so it's basically WinRAR's version of a PAR file.

FWIW I just downloaded the latest RAR for Mac OS X (v4.00) from win-rar and it does seem to provide support for this. So I presume the unrar from the same archive does too.
