It's like they only got half the memo: the 15 colors are so washed out and subtle as to be almost undetectable (the "blue" 15 just looks white to me), so they opted for bolder colors, but the options they chose are unappealing and not what most people want. Why not return to colors of the non-Pro 11?

Guess I’d go black or white from that uninspiring lineup. Also, “colorways” needs to die. We already have a word that works: “colors”.

It's also just inaccurate. "Colorway" is a design term for an arrangement of multiple colors in a product. These are just solid-color phones. "Colorway" is not supposed to be just a synonym for "color".

Of course, the actual phones with these colors will look very different than these mockups. They will be attractive and they will be popular. The new camera configuration will allow for spatial video in all models, which is a good thing. AI features will come and October will see many of them. So three or four week wait is not a deal killer. He added bonuses it gives more time to explore the basic features of iOS 18.

The colors always look better in real life when compared to the early leaks. I'm liking the green and it looks like they may have a true black and white (instead of dark grey and 4 shades of off white). That said I'm assuming they will keep the matte texture on the back which these dummy units don't look like they have?

I can’t put my finger on why, but these colors seem like a step backwards to me. Honestly, I’ll be surprised if these are actually the ones that Apple will use.

I have a 15 Plus in the blue/whitish color, and one thing I love about it is how it does not show fingerprints. I hope that, if nothing else, they keep that textured feel.

Past dummy models (as the article notes these are, in strange opposition to its commentary on their colors) have been solid bricks of metal to gauge dimensional fit for cases and such; most aren't even made by Apple. I wouldn't put much stock in their finishes being accurate to the final product.

I’ve been working in product design since 1991 and am thankful I never heard of it for the first 25 years of that career. Its got to be some hodgepodge word that came from a mistranslation. Every time I hear it now its like a little annoying car crash that gets louder and louder ea time.

Can we also get rid of (or significantly reduce) the word “wholesome” on social media?

Everything is “wholesome” now. That and “core memory”. 🙄

Wow, I absolutealy love that teal color!

But yeah, I’m missing a vibrant red or orange color. The blue looks a bit uninspired, but I prefer to wait to see it in real life.
What teal color? I see one blue and one green.

A quick search for different shades of teal:

I see the third or fourth shade of teal (which is a bluish green) in the green iPhone 16.

What’s with Apple’s colour choices?
The 15’s were so pale, it‘s if they didn’t have enough paint.
Now these 16’s appears as if there’s too much paint and overly saturated.

i'm so sick of the camera bump, just make the damn phone thicker and give it a bigger battery with the extra room. filling the even bigger bump area with an even thicker case is just stupid

Wow these are some godawful colors. What was wrong with the 15 colors? They are much more enjoyable to look at. I was really excited to get an iPhone 16 with the blue color of the 15, but now I might just not get one.

I’ve been waiting years for Apple to make a more saturated green iPhone… Typically the year I’ve been telling myself “I am not going to upgrade this year”… Apple make a more saturated green 🤦‍♂️😅

Apple had some really nice colors in the past, like with their iPod nano lineup. The past few years have been hit and mostly miss. If you like pastel colors, that’s fine, but some of us would like more saturated colors. I’m not sure if these colors are necessarily the answer.
