You can't watch a visually spectacular film like Star Wars III on a pirated download and hope to have the same experience. I see most people downloading this just so they can have it, as well as going to watch it at the cinema. Meh, it was bound to happen.

Exactly. The movie industry doesn't lose much because people who d/l movies generally go to the cinema as well. In fact, everybody is going to watch it, and they're making mad $$$, so I don't know if they'll go after anyone just yet.

as has been stated before this happens with every movie, and just about all albums too. hey RIAA and the Movie Assosiation, why not try and close these 'leaks' you have in your systems huh?

Instead of spending the money and time to fix the problem, why not just point the finger?

Is anyone really going to download it and watch it on their computer instead of going to the cinema???

Maybe that's why it made $50 Million in ONE Day!
(That includes my $10)

If the movie is worth watching, then they will go see it, but if it sucks they won't!
MPAA can shove it!

jebus, whats the point? i download movies a lot but never action-type movies cause they look really ******. i just get like comedies or "talking" movies as my friend put it. anyway i paid like $6.50 to see the movie ($4.50 if i went to the crappy theater by my house)! it's not worth spending a day or 2 downloading it so i can watch it on a 17" 4:3 screen--even smaller with the ws movie--just so i dont have to spend 7 bucks.
a bit ot: how do they pirate a movie like that? sneak a camera into the theater?

BTW Hob do you know which cinema is screening it digital? I saw Toy Story 2 digital at Odeon Leicester Square, which was mind blowing, so I'm guessing it'll be the same cinema.
Yeah - a quick googling confirmed that it is! I'm gonna go see it in digital... I saw it at Bluewater and it was decidedly un-digital...

why... would i want to dl this... over bit torrent... wait for hours for it... when i can go to the theater.. see it on a nice big screen with big sound... with friends and have a good time... instead of seeing it in some crap form of divx within quicktime at half size? with who knows what kind of sound editing...

I agree with what a lot of people have said. The MPAA argument that piracy hurts their bottom line seems refuted by the box office results. ROTS has broken many records already and yet is easily pirated. I am considering downloading it so I can watch it after it is out of theaters but still unavailable on DVD (which, like Episodes 1,2,4-6 I have bought). Movies/TV shows that I genuinely enjoy I am glad to buy.

But of course you have to watch a movie before knowing whether it sucks or not... ;)

But I'm sure it dents heavily into their DVD sales, which is a huge earner for studios.

Some people are just very cheap, some like to think they're giving it to the man, some just want a copy to dissect after watching it at the cinema. Doesn't make it right of course!

Looks like 'Tun' just released a Telecin, hear it's a little red and dark but it doesn't have the WP counter like this one.

-it's setting box office records
-it seems to be setting piracy records too
-it's going to, by itself and as a box set, sell HUGE on dvd
-not sure how there is a victim of this crime

if someone really wants to call a tipline and turn me in, well, that's between them and their conscience. i don't see the point. 'course, the MPAA would have some difficulty getting through Filevault...

lol nice link...cheeky git :D

and I did Google it but the Odeon site was sooooo slow to load it took me back to the bad ole' 56k days, so I gave up.
Glad you took the link as intended :)

The Odeon site is not compatable with safari...!! Recently (the last 3 months) they've added a text-only version for screening times which is the only way to use the site... :(
