last month, i upgraded to the new 21.5 inch imac from an older imac, and i really have loved the cpu/gpu improvements. however...

i have never liked the bluetooth keyboard - namely, the lack of easily accessible usb ports. not having those two usb ports on the keyboard is equivalent to the old-style pc towers that had the usb ports only in the back.

it just doesn't make sense. with the blue tooth keyboard, i found myself always reaching around to the back of the imac body. what an annoyance!

so i went back to the wired keyboard :)

has anyone else here de-volved in this manner?

In the studio we have the bluetooth keyboard and I agree, it's a pain going to the back of the machine. I love my USB ports on my keyboard here!

when i bought my imac i had them swap out the small bluetooth keyboard for a full size wired keyboard. They are the same price and did it without having to ask twice.

I use both the wired keyboard from my previous iMac and the bluetooth keyboard :D

I like the bluetooth keyboard since I use the iMac as for watching movies (to cheap to spend extra money on a remote, should be free again!). But I absolutely hate the "fn" key (always mistake it for control) and the lack of usb ports kind of sucks, but then again you don't want to change your keyboard batteries every day :p

Right now I use the bluetooth keyboard for movies, surfing, and doing homework and the wired keyboard when programing, using excel, gaming, and connecting usb devices.

Why not just use a USB extension lead and attach it under the desk. I use to have 1 glued under the top of the desk to the left of the keyboard.

Same here, although my extension lead gets threaded through the stand's cable hole twice so that the port pokes out from under the base of the screen. I would rather that Apple put a couple of USB ports on the underside of the iMac itself though. The RAM slot is there so the logic board does extend that far down.
