The Anker 40W 5V/8A 5-Port USB wall charger is one of the most powerful wall chargers I have ever received.

Pros:
-8 amps of output power to the USB's
-5 USB ports (all 5 USB ports share the 8 amps of output power)
-Each USB port has a max output of 8 amps
-The USB ports are "Smart Ports" which adjust to how much power the device needs to charge at max speed
-Small and portable (size of a deck of card)
-Uses a 5ft power cord that allows the user to put the wall charger to a desired location
-Great for international use by using AC 100-240v input voltage
-Has overvoltage, overcurrent, overheating and short circuits protection
-Can charge and iPad Air, iPad 1, iPad 2 and iPad 3 each at 2 amps
-Can charge 5 tablets at once but is recommend for an overnight charge because the tablets are not charging at full speed
-Works with all USB chargeable phones, tablets and other USB chargeable devices
-No annoying LED status light
-Ideal for a family/person who has many tablets and smartphones (I have an iPad Air, iPhone 5 and an iPod touch 5 that works great with this wall charger)
-Makes an excellent gift
-Looks great
-Excellent price
-Well designed
-Very high quality construction
-18 month warranty

Cons:
-Not UL listed but I personally trust Anker's products

My wishes to make this product perfect:
-Make the max output 12 amps so 5 tablets, like an iPad, can charge at full speed at 2.4 amps
-Add micro suction on one side so I can stick it to my night stand

This is a very powerful and well-designed wall charger and I highly recommend it.

Any questions? I will try my best to answer.
I have a video of it that I made that I can PM a link if wanted.

I just purchased one of these for my flight bag. Hopefully it will work well to reduce the amount of electronic chargers in my flight bag (Company iPad, Company Blackberry, Company Back up battery, Personal iPad, Personal iPhone.)

I guess your a pilot. Which battery pack do you use? Planes have an outlet for pilots? This product will work perfectly with all your devices.
You will be very happy with your purchase!!

I fly a business jet. There are ac outlets in the cabin, but not the cockpit. The back up battery is used just in case the battery in the ipad runs low, or a failure of the internal iPad battery.

Of course, every night at the hotel I need to charge up not only my personal devices, but also my company issued ones. Right now I carry enough iphone/ipad chargers for everything, but it sounds like it will be more compact to carry this charger.

Oh, and it is a New Trent battery pack I was issued, 1 ipad port & 1 iphone port. Micro usb for charging.

Thanks for this review... I actually just purchased one of these yesterday as it was $17 off at Amazon for a total of $26 shipped with prime. I should get it tomorrow and I'm even more excited to get it having seen your review. I'm primarily planning to use it for travel. Between my wife and I we have two iphones and two ipads that need to be charged nightly, plus a few other devices that need to be charged occasionally... extended battery... my pebble watch... bluetooth headset, etc. I think the 5 ports should be perfect for our needs. It might even wind up on our headboard so we can unplug all of the other chargers littering the outlets in our bedroom.

Honestly, I'm not sure how I feel about this. Personally I have no desire to charge 5 tablets, so the trade off in size and cost to add more power wouldn't be a good one for me. I'd rather keep it as small and inexpensive as possible and I think 8 amps is a pretty good number. That's plenty of power to charge two iPads, two iPhones and one other device at full power and still have a bit to spare.

I'm happy you liked my review.

Where can I buy this? I only see the 25 watt version on Amazon. I can't find the 40 watt.

For some reason it looks like they pulled this from Amazon the day after I bought mine and it's killing me because I love the one I have and I want to purchase another. I was actually planning to call Anker tomorrow and see if they know when it will be back or if there is another source for it. I'll let you know what they say.

It's is extremely popular and it is "not available" which is why it is not showing up. I love mine too.
Here is my current setup:

Just to follow up on this, I spoke with Anker today and like Zman said, Anker confirmed that it's been very popular and they are simply out of stock right now. He did also say that they don't expect it to be back in stock until the first week of February, so it looks like we have about a week or so to wait.

It was on pre order a few weeks ago but pre orders were sold out as it is so popular:).

And it's back in stock at Amazon. I just ordered my second one:)

Oddly enough, it's showing in stock, but it's also showing a delivery estimate of Feb 3rd with my 2 day prime shipping. I'm not sure what's up with that, but at least it let me get my order in.

I just ordered two. Same delivery date as you, Feb 3 with Prime.

Actually, I just went back and ordered a third. We've got 8 iOS devices in the family, plus various other accessories that charge via USB. Hopefully these will help clean up our cable mess a bit.

Looks like they bumped up my delivery date. Now it's showing a status of "Preparing for shipment" and showing a delivery date of 1/31:)

You know something must be wrong about you when you're excited to be getting a charger in the mail;)

Well that didn't last long... Amazon is out again. There is one third party seller offering one for $92 (And if they can get that, maybe I should sell one of mine) ;)

Either Anker is only sending Amazon 10 chargers at a time or there is a real market for these powerful multiport chargers.

So this is pretty cool. I just discovered that you can use the little plug head from an iPad or MacBook charger with this Anker charger to help minimize the cord mess. It's not really pretty, but it gets rid of the extra 6 foot or so power cable.

What's your setup? With 3 of them?

We have three kids and all three have ipad mini's and the oldest has an iPhone. We don't let any of them keep their iDevices overnight, so all four devices charge in our bedroom and I'm using one charger for that.

The second one goes on my side of the bed and charges my iPhone and rMini nightly as well as my bluetooth headset, pebble watch, jambox, and extended battery as needed.

The third is on my wife's side of the bed for her iPhone and rMini. It might be a bit of overkill for her, since she really just charges two devices, but she had been struggling to find places to plug in her iPad and iPhone chargers as well as her hairdrier and the other girly stuff she uses, so just getting those two chargers down to one small plug was worth it.
