Is the Case sturdy enough to handle being removed and installed several times over? I planned on letting my wife borrow it sometimes but worry that removing it and installing it will wear it out
Hard to say at this point. It hasn't been out long enough to show possible wear and tear on the flexible hinge. I do get the feeling that eventually the hinge might start to weaken and possibly split, but IF it does happen at all it's hard to say whether it's in a years time or two years or three. We shall see.

Normally case wear and tear is no big deal, but this feels way less disposable at $99. Hopefully it holds up, and if there's any structural failure it'll be before the year warranty is up.

I looked at the tear down of the case. There is a mesh in the hinge to prevent fatigue. So that makes me feel a bit better. Think the bottom connector or the phone will incur any ear?

I've been removing it and installing it here and there for he last 2 days. Not convinced i want to keep it. And I just worry that I might be causing undue wear on my phone

The lint/dirt issue with the Apple battery case should be a deal breaker for everyone. There is no excuse for using a material that attracts lint. NONE. Just like their fingerprint attracting surfaces, its a terrible design choice by Apple. And by terrible I mean disgusting.

Mine literally only picked up a little lint the first day or so. Now, it picks up none. Absolutely none. I feel like it's after it absorbs natural oils from the skin it stops being so lint prone.

I'm not doubting some other people are still having lint issues, but I'm not.

Yeah, great review. You hit all the reasons why Apple made it the way they did. Now I wish they made one for the 6s+, lol.

Yeah, it'd be a nice option, but I feel their thinking is the battery is already pretty decent, so the justification for adding bulk isn't there.

That's my biggest issue. I don't mind the design (it's pretty easy to get used to), but sheesh the endless amounts of lint that gets stuck on it is cringe-inducing. A leather version of this would be fantastic.

The silicone feels amazing, but agreed that it's a terrible material to maintain. A matte rubber with hints of grip or even the suggested leather would be amazing, but will definitely eat deeper into the wallet.

Yeah. This is frequently cited as being a drawback, or that simply having no on/off switch is a con.

I don't see the validity in the argument. You're going to discharge the case's battery into your own at one point or another, so why not just let it start right off the bat?

The case battery isn't being wasted in any way. It's just trickle charging your phone battery a little at a time as it needs it.

I don't want to manage this kinda nonsense. This is why I moved back to iPhone from Android in the first place. I was tired of micro-managing my battery life by toggling things on and off all the time. This case just gives you a virtual larger battery with no management needed. That's all win in my book.

Precisely this, I tried to get that message across in my video too. It's an extension of your battery, not a 'case' per se.

Is it safe to constantly keep the phone charging? Doesn't that hurt the battery down the road if you don't use the case or is the technology too advanced nowadays for that to matter anymore?

Battery tech isn't too advanced in most consumer devices, but it's smart enough to trickle charge when needed, therefore not overheating the battery by trying to charge the case as fast as possible.

Cases that claim to charge the iPhone really quick will just push more power at once, hence heating it up and possibly damaging it in the long run.

I really wanted to like this battery case but it made my 6S weigh like a brick. Also a lint/dirt magnet. Nice effort but make it lighter and cheaper and Apple might have something. For $100, not a chance!

I personally like the weight it added, felt sturdier in my hand and actually less likely to drop, but definitely a personal thing. And agreed on the price, but it's Apple, you're paying partly for the name itself.

According to the teardown, there's a mess that reinforces the joint, so it should be able to accommodate removal over and over again!

That logic doesn't make sense, IMO, because that was exactly the argument for never having a battery case before now. All the previous iPhones had "decent" batteries according to Apple or they would have increased the size of the battery inside. By making a battery case, they're finally admitting that some people or situations require more battery than provided by the 6 and 6s. It would only follow that the same would hold for the 6+ and 6s+. I know that there have been many situations for me where I couldn't get through the whole day on my Plus without charging at some point.

My guess is not that Apple thinks that the battery life on the Plus is adequate for all situations but that they feel the market opportunity for a battery case on the Plus either hasn't been proven or has been shown to be too small to be worthwhile for them. On the other hand, they probably had plenty of data showing them that a battery case for the non-Plus would be worthwhile to pursue - whether or not they think the battery life without the case is already adequate.

I absolutely hate the feel of the case but the Lightning charging and smart features are great, I returned mine. The mophie juice pack reserve is a great option.

I've had my case since 2 days after it was announced. I still love it, but it will start to look a bit ragged in another month or so as the very thin (matte?) layer on top of the silicon has started to peel on all the corners. I carry my phone in my pocket, so I was expecting something like this. It doesn't look bad, and the gray color hides it mostly, but you can see it if you are looking at it. On the bright side, if what's underneath is less tacky (i.e., attracts less lint), then I may just hurry the process along...

Ah, interesting insight on long term usage. Definitely agree on the material beneath, hopefully it's a smoother one...

To be clear, it's more like wear than peeling (you don't see pieces of the coating flaking off), and there's no change in color, just texture. Fingerprints on the case are more noticeable. But the top coating is definitely wearing off at the corners. At the end of the day, it's a case. The Candyshell cases (which I loved, too) that I used before I got this case were covered in scratches to the point that it was more like a patina than anything else.

So overall would you say this battery case is worth the extra $$$ compared to something like the $40 Anker battery case?

First time using case and the battery life is awesome. 6hr56min of usage/11hr41min of standby with 1% left on case and 100% on phone. Under normal usage I could see this case allowing for charging every 3 days. That's pretty nice considering I'm bad about running my battery low with no access to a charger. Essentially like having two iPhones that are fully charged. The phone definitely feels heavier/dense but I might get used to it...this is my first battery case. With the integration/lighting port the case may just become part of the phone and never come off.
[doublepost=1452204718][/doublepost]Btw - the case does show some smudges from oils/grease on the hands but I haven't really had a problem with lint. It's a case so I really don't care about it being super pretty.

I have to say this case is one of the best things I have bought as an accessory. I have found my battery is lasting the whole day and on normal days (where I'm not stuck in rush hour or have time to kill so play games) I could easily get two days out of it. I'm even so bold as to say if I tried I could get three days out of it.

I'm sure this would be a great battery case but the price is way too high. iPhone itself is not checp, I really wouldn't spend these much extra money on a battery case. I think I'd just go with my Maxboost battery case, the price is more affordable, and it has more capacity.

Honestly, I've tried a few battery cases, and I hated them all, except for the Smart Battery Case. I posted a while back that I returned it simply because I felt it wasn't worth spending 100 bucks on as I don't really need that kind of battery life. I miss the case though on long days away from charging, or on the weekend when I just use the phone more but don't feel like plugging it in to top it up. If it was $69 or so, I'd probably buy it again, just not for $100. It's just too much to ask for an accessory that you'll never be able to use again when you upgrade your phone.

I've had the case for about a month now and really like it, but recently I've noticed that when I plug it in to the wall to charge, it doesn't always register and start charging. I'm using all Apple connectors (original lighting cable and usb outlet that came with the phone). I'm wondering if it's just the cold weather here in the midwest or if the case (my case) is defective.

I've never seen that happen with mine. You could possibly have a defect. Does it happen consistently or rarely?

Twice in the past 7 days.

I woke up this morning thinking my case and phone would be charged....NOPE.

It's been about 10 days now and I'm almost totally used to the extra weight of the case. I don't think I've thought about it in the last week. I also think the bump on the back with thinness at the top and bottom might be better than uniformity. The price is a tad high at $100 ($79 might be about right, IMO) but I'm not sure if I could go back to nearly half the battery life I get now.
