It may work for you, and others...
Which you "forget" time and time again. Try looking at things from a technical and broader perspective and not just your own use cases. That fact things don't work for you just means that, not that they suck, are stupid and the end of Apple is nigh.

As for being locked in to the past you have no idea of the workflow at hand or the technology involved, safe to say it exceeds Apple's consumer grade notebooks by magnitudes. From the past just laughing at you, making judgements yet you have no clue of the specific usage, workflows or the revenue generated by the enormous number of three notebooks I utilise for my consulting business...
Ah, I was waiting how long it would take you to go from technical nonsense to personal attacks. And again, it is within just 2 replies. The fact that you aren't even replying with any technical arguments speaks volume.

Plus, the Belkin is the only one I know of that gives you the full 85 watts for 15 inch Macbook Pros.
OWC, Elgato, CalDigit and some others also support the 85W charging.

It costs the price of a small laptop or PS4 plus extra controller/game to add standard port options to a "pro" computer? Why not punch me in the groin while you are there.

My 2011 MBP is dying and I am finding it very, very hard to justify the price of a new MPB when it has less options than my current 6 year old computer. . .

I am in the same boat. Apple replaced my Graphics Card twice now due to the problem that came with our 2011 MBP's :/ I am afraid it is going to go out again, plus I would like a new MBP, but geese, it seems all these hubs do not work properly and that is one thing keeping me from pulling th trigger...

Yeah, PC laptops generally don't have this sort of problem because they do a better job of keeping the laptops cool. Nowadays, Apple focuses more on aesthetics than functionality. Other companies are more focused on keeping their computers cool. This is why PC laptops are heavier and thicker than Apple's laptops - better cooling. It's just a matter of priorities. Weight and thickness vs heat. Which would you rather have? A laptop that's 0.71" thick and weighs 4.46 pounds and overheats to the point of frying the motherboard? Or one which is 1.14" thick and weighs 7 pounds and won't overheat?

Couple months ago the graphic subsystem in my 2011 MBP (with 3 previous failures) started to conk out yet again so I opted to replace it preemptively with a 2015 model. I didn't want to be forced to buy a TB3 dock just to support my current set of peripherals; I like MagSafe a lot, hate the current MBP keyboard; and the updates to the current MBP line, especially the Touch Bar, was not compelling enough to justify the ugly prices. It's disappointing that I had to settle for a machine that was released 2.5 years ago because Apple's recent hardware design priorities no longer fit my requirements. I know I'm not an isolated case.
