the last thing we need these days is another smart device with another account and password to remember (and get breached) and another metric to crowd up your life and give you more health anxiety
I get it, it's not the device for you. But it doesn't mean it won't be useful to others who are different from you.

What's the point of this really over a smart watch (that will be very helpful to do timed sets too while swimming)? And a watch will be useful for any other sport as well.
I't useful for people whose primary athletic activity is swimming. Maybe that's not the case for you, but it's certainly the case for me, among many others.

How does this do with "open water" swims? I can't see getting it for pool laps, but when swimming in open water, like in a triathlon, you don't have speed, stroke rate, or distance information handy. You don't want to be stopping to check your watch, so having the HUD would be justified, if not pricey.

I thought that this article referred to Smart Google initially. My internal being shouted: ‘but I have DDGo, why would I need Smart Google?!’ But then I am 64.

Sounds nice but how can your eye resolve to see the screen that is so close. Seems like it would put tremendous strain on the optics nerve.

Why are so many people having these extreme reactions? If you have done any serious attempt at working out - be it running, weight lifting or swimming - you would know that keeping track of your numbers is very important. Having a subjective sense of "I think I have done enough for today" won't cut it.
I don't know how well these work, but the idea of having access to your metrics is GOOD.
It's really surprising to me to see so many misconceptions and weird "rants" on this subject.

Why not let swimmers decide?

As a former competitive swimmer I can’t comprehend how “fitness” swimmers climb into a pool and just mindlessly swim lap after lap until done.

I would be so bored. I construct interval sets and try to push myself with time goals and sprint goals. Having the pace clock in my goggles instead of on the wall would rock, especially because you don’t need to look through a fogged up goggle and battle your aging eyes to see it.
This is exactly why I wanted these goggles. I’m definitely a fitness swimmer only (I did swim competitively in high school, but that was 20+ years ago). I would be board after 15 minutes if I didn’t change it up. So I come with a workout, written on a board usually used by scuba divers, and these goggles have been a great help keep track of my time and laps.

I've had the Ciye Smart Goggles for a while and nearly given up on them cause they wont charge.

I've sent back 3 Ciyes to Finis and had them replaced for free but the 4th unit also wont charge so I'm thinking its me (not the product!) and I don't want to be a complete pain in the arse and return another unit so....

The Ciye charges when its not fully out of charge, but eventually ill be swimming and have forgotten to charge it and they run flat.

I've tried numerous different power points, numerous charging cables (I have 6 of them trying to solve the problem).

I've even bought a 40w USB charger as I wondered if my 20w charger was not drawing enough power but neither charge my Ciye.

I’m obviously on 0% charge so I cany even reset or hold down any button to get a light to flash.

Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?? Is anyone else having this same problem?
