This belongs in the “awful taste but great execution” subreddit imho. It looks well done but why would you want an old exploded iPhone on your wall?

Why do people decorate with anything they put on their walls? They like it, it has meaning to them, conversation starters, etc.

I was about to pull the trigger on the GRID iPod Classic (4th generation), but a couple of things bugged me about it:
  • Apple 30-pin connector mislabeled as "Lightning Port".
  • Bad grammar / lack of space after comma in "stay hungry, stay foolish." quote at the bottom.
Much like anything Apple, I too, obsess over and appreciate attention-to-detail, but this product is not it, unfortunately.

I further researched this on Google and found that there are other companies offering similar products. One such company (based in the UK) has the original iPhone (1st generation) for sale, is cheaper than Grid Studio and quality/workmanship seems superior. Order placed! 🤞

Need more white space around the iPad mini. It looks cramped in that standard size frame they’re using.

Website link please......👍

I have the original iPhone one. I really like it, but one of the pieces was attached a little crooked. It’s not level by maybe 0.5° but the OCD in me wants to fix myself.

I love GRID Studio and what they do.

They need to showcase the Macbook Pro butterfly keyboard. Would love to see all the details in that.

Maybe they could make a coffee table display out of a disassembled Macbook.

Well shoot, I had to get the iPod one for my new office.

I once won a statistically improbable number of these exact iPods in a Pepsi contest.

A few of the bounty pictured here (the ones not addressed to everybody I knew at the time). Leaping Arizona-cat for scale (who has one of those boxes addressed to her).

This deconstructed one will make a great trophy framed next to this picture.

I made an original iPhone frame and an original iPod frame -each cost less than $100 to make and I had a blast doing it. I also made sure the spelling and proper names of each part was correct. On their iPhone frame they have the sensor labeled as a "flash" and iPhone's don't have a front flash.

One of these would look great hanging on a wall illuminated by Nanoleaf tiles. I'd wrap myself in a Throwboy blanket and admire that 30-pin Lightning port for hours.

This was cool ... until everyone pointed out the 30-pin connector snafu. And now it's all I can look at. That's a monumental blunder for something like this.
for their sake, hopefully this is more of a ‘made to order’ type thing and they can fix all the errors in future ones lol

Received my "iFramed 1 - Framed Disassembled iPhone 1" last week. Took about 8 days to arrive to (NJ) USA from the UK. I think I dodged a bullet by not ordering from GRID Studio.

One of the clips on the back had come off. Was easy enough to push it back in.

Looks like iFramed has reprinted the wording on the back of the iPhone. "apple" should be "Apple" and you can see the faded original lettering on the right-hand side. No space after "FCCID:", etc. Minor typos that are only visible up close.

I wish they'd stuck to one format for the dates. "June 29, 2007" would have been better than "29th June, 2007", in my opinion. The release date should probably also have been above the discontinued date.

Overall, pretty happy with my purchase and glad I got my hands on a framed iPhone 1 for less than half the price that GRID Studio is selling it at (when they have it in stock).

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing the details of your "iFramed" version (which is not by GRID). When comparing what I see in your photos to my Grid-1, I see on the back of my iPhone 2G case that the "A" in Apple is properly capitalized, which means it is the original text they did not reprint. They most like had to do a lot of work to make your case look better, which resulted in the removal of the original text, so they obviously reprinted it. You'd think they would have taken time to make the reprint a perfect match, but such is typical of Chinese made items.

Unlike the Grid-1, there's no icon display or little happy face on yours, but you do get the LCD, whereas mine only included the transparent front glass. You also get more parts on yours, including the SIM card and connector, which adds something, I think. You also get the battery too, which if a dummy instead of the real battery, is a very nice addition. You also get a small photo of Steve Jobs, which the Grid-1 doesn't show. And perhaps best of all, you get the metric system, whereas the Grid-1 only displays measurements in inches.

The back side of yours seems to have less durable metal "holders" that keep that back piece in place. On the Grid-1, they nicely slide out to the side, rather than bend, ensuring they won't break off over time due to metal fatigue. So that part is clearly inferior on the iFramed version.

I am not seeing any dust particles behind the glass on yours, which is a plus.

Is the display real glass or plexiglass like the Grid-1? You should be able to tell by weight, with glass weighing more. Gently tapping on it might help you know as well.

How much did yours cost? (Is "price" the "bullet" that you dodged?)

Thanks.
