Yes Virginia, there really are things people would rather have than money. Why is this even a thing, lol.

I question why everything has to be “smart” these days.

It's ironic. People complain that a routine day has so many things demanding their attention that they aren't able to concentrate or live on the moment. Yet they want to complicate the simplest activities or tasks by attaching more buttons to it.

Actually this toothbrush has been helpful. My fiancé was never really taught to brush her teeth, she just had to learn on her own. Dentist said she wasn’t brushing, but since she brushes twice a day we were both confused. We each got one of these toothbrushes and with the coach feature she realized that she wasn’t brushing is areas where she should be.

Bottom line, especially for learning to brush, or making sure you’re brushing correctly, this is a great tool. I would say kids, and those who may not have had a parent to teach them how to brush correctly would be a great market for this.
Last time I checked, that's why "Dental hygienists" exist in most dental offices: apart from cleaning, they tell you how to improve your brushing.

You know, a trained specialist human at 20-bucks single 10-20mins session cost, versus a piece of plastic with some apparently maybe useful gizmos inside at five times the amount... which would you trust.

One day it may report I haven't brushed often enough or correctly enough to my insurance company so that they can adjust my rate accordingly.

That day is already here, sort of. My wife has sleep apnea and she's been prescribed a CPAP breathing machine to use at night. It has a wireless modem built into it that transmits data for analysis to the cloud. If they find that she's not using it enough (as is common for a lot of people who are provided CPAP machines), they'll take the machine back.

I got one a year ago, and it worked fine until I dropped it on the tile floor and it broke. I used the app a couple times, but realized I'm not going to brush my teeth for the full two minutes, even with an interactive iPhone display. Sorry, won't do it. I don't have the time. Maybe if I was 5 years old and had the Kolibree treasure hunt app.
So, I just use it "offline".
That's two features my $2 CVS toothbrush didn't have: an interactive app I refuse to use, and breaking when I drop it on the floor.
However, I'm buying another one. $100 is cheap if it saves me even 1% on my dentist bills for a lifetime. Assuming I don't drop it every year.
