That’s way too thick, and expensive, for 5K mAh. Hard pass.
It’s the same thickness (edit: or slightly thicker, see the next post below) as the body of an iPhone Pro, while having 140% of its battery capacity. That seems roughly appropriate in terms of capacity vs. size. Too expensive, yes.

Aside from that, you can buy an Anker MagGo Ultra Slim 10k power bank for a lower price, and it’s about the same thickness.
Not really the same thickness, the Anker is almost twice as thick at 0.58” vs. 0.32”.

Edit: The Kuxiu website says 0.32”, while the article says 0.39”, which seems to match the photos better. That’s still only 2/3 of the Anker’s thickness.

I bought this and it arrived a few days ago. I did the 'full discharge' procedure per recommendation/instructions.

Seems to work as advertised. It does get slightly warm when charging via MagSafe, and I do have a case on my phone so that probably doesn't help.

Overall I'm satisfied, even at the $80 price (no tax or shipping for me in the US) I paid. I have purchased more $30-$40 battery packs over the past 5+ years than I care to remember, and most of them fail after 2 years.

why on earth would anyone use wireless charging in this case?
the device will be in a confined space, wireless charging is inefficient and generates excess heat.
if you are concerned about how many mAh-s you carry around, just don't waste them by using any kind of wireless power transfer.
accidentally dropping this while it is attached to the glass back magnetically can potentially shatter the back, if the nice looking iPhone styled edge bumps into it.

Because you toss it in your bag and don't have to remember/find/fool with a wire. You use your phone like you normally would.

Don't know whether it will last long. Might be better to buy a cheaper one and replace it when it becomes bad than going for this one.

"Re: What's missing? A kickstand would be nice"

I disagree. For this type of product, I think magsafe on the back as well makes more sense. Many people today use magsafe phone grips (which can also function as a kickstand) Since we need to remove these to attach this powerbank, the back of this battery should have magsafe, so we can reattach our magsafe phone grip while still using this battery.

A kickstand is only good for sitting at a table, but a magsafe backside would allow us to attach *any* magsafe phone grip, adding much more versatility than a kickstand.

🚨First gen product alert🚨 I look forward to solid state batteries maturing as a technology.

80$ for 5000mah? We now have 10000mah slim power banks for cheaper than that. Solid state was supposed to increase the areal capacity. This is a joke, paying premium for nothing

100% failure on my part.

In my defense I've only had 2 cups of coffee so I am not fully awake. 🥲

I did just watch a video on EA investors call regarding the new Battlefield and know they just continue to wear rose colored glasses with the state of the franchise.
Oh I figured, I was just teasing.

Yeah; EA is the epitome of ensh*tification.

Neat to see small scale use of tech that is debuting in BEVs in the next couple years.

"In my testing with an iPhone 16 Pro, the fully charged S2 brought my completely drained phone to 97% before depleting – slightly less than Kuxiu's claim of "approximately 1.2 full charges.""

This seems like a red flag. And I think "slightly" is generous here.

I think the tests that companies perform are under ideal conditions. Apple itself (for example), is no different when they quote battery life. Having said that, I thought the same as you - it is more than ‚slightly‘ at 83% performance…

You pay a premium for a power bank that isn't likely to crap out in ~1-2yrs with heavy use.

"That said, when attached to my iPhone 16 Pro, the battery extends slightly beyond the phone's bottom edge"

The fundamental flaw here is that the product doesn’t properly fit a standard iPhone 16 Pro - and that should be made clear. There was a lack of attention to detail during design. The marketing photos conveniently obscure this issue, and even MacRumors photos appear to be glossing over it in their images vs pointing out the flaw.

If you’re going to review or promote products, clarity and transparency matter. Being upfront builds trust and credibility - glossing over major flaws doesn’t.
I bought one of these KUXIU chargers and my iPhone 16 has an OtterBox case on it. The KUXUI fits well between the raised edge of the case‘s camera bump and the raised edge of the case at the base of the phone. If I had not read the article I would not have been aware of any issue. I think the majority of phones with cases on them would also have no issue of overhang.
