I just want them to do more Matter Essential round bulbs, but with an E14 fitting for my kitchen. :/

(Yes adapters exist, but since E14 bulbs are generally for smaller light fittings adapters would make them poke out miles and look weird)

I have several LIFX bulbs and would like to stay in that ecosystem but seems other companies have caught up / surpassed the offerings (e.g. govee).
Sadly most of their stuff doesn't work natively with HomeKit...

I have been looking for HomeKit string lights and there are VERY few, so, it was amazing to see this posted today. Price isn't amazing but I'd do it...that said: I do NOT like this bulb design. At all.

I bought 4 nanoleaf bulbs and a year later none of them work correctly. Some were already sent back under warranty. I thought it was a premium product but i think its just premium marketing
And I bought four Nanoleaf bulbs and a year later they're just fine, being directed via HomeKit and the HomePod mini.

Why does Nanoleaf appear to be abandoning thread?
It is Matter over Thread.

But please don't buy it. I bought their Christmas lights and while they're beautiful, the color options are extremely limited. I've got half a mind to just cut out the nanoleaf controller and hook it up to a WLED controller.

Also, all my nanoleaf Matter bulbs are collecting dust because their connectivity is terrible and nanoleaf doesn't seem to know how to fix it.

No it’s not, it’s WiFi. And I have the matter bulbs, they work flawlessly

Of course it’s WiFi. Thread is a network protocol. It needs a network. In most cases WiFi. I don’t know of any light bulbs with an Ethernet port.

Your Matter bulbs use Thread. They get an IPv6 address through one of the Thread routers. Matter is the connectivity standard that makes them work with controllers (simplifying for conciseness).

I, too, have a ton of Lifx devices. They just came out with a bunch of outdoor lighting. Matter compatible and it works great with the homekit and lifx app.

Yes, you’re right, the matter BULBS use thread. This however, does not. I think you’re misinformed about what thread actually is

The matter bulbs do not use WiFi, they use thread with matter being the protocol

Matter and thread are NOT the same thing

Would love to see a video review to get a better idea of the lights’ brightness and appearance.

They look nice but concerning if they don’t provide enough adequate lighting.

Would love to see a comparison with others like Govee.

I have older Nanoleafs bulbs and light strips and they work fine. Numerous horror stories on Reddit of the newer models with Matter.

And Nanoleaf’s tech support is pretty much nonexistent.

I went all Lutron with my light switches.lutron is the only homekit wireless system that’s 100% reliable. Thread has proven to be junk
The fact that there’s no way within the software to use locally without creating an account first really irritates me about lutron. I have a few lutron devices, they are reliable, and the bridge is blocked from the web so the fact that I cant turn off that login is mitigated, but it needed internet and the account for initial setup, and it shouldnt

Never something I thought about. They just work.
