How hard is it to put that thing on a scale? Nonsense info that could have been made valuable with thirty seconds of work.
Or two seconds of research on their product page: 23.7oz / 1.48lbs (670g).
Is this supposed to be journalism?

I'm sorry. I had a limited time to write this because I didn't get it until Friday around 5pm and I had plans this weekend, so Monday was the only time I had to write. I was in a rush, and I don't own a scale to weigh it, so I apologize for the guesstimate. I also didn't have access to their product page as it was not published at the time.

I have updated the article with the exact weight.

I bought the Spigen MagFit for $15 on Amazon:

Like this product, it is just a MagSafe charger holder/mount, but has the nano adhesive whatever on the bottom so it never pulls up from my smooth wooden desk. YMMV for different desk/table materials. For some surfaces, double-sided tape might work just as well, I guess, but I do like the way this looks.

MagSafe chargers always seemed odd in that you needed two hands to separate the charger and the phone. It makes more sense to mount it like this so I can place and pick up my phone with one hand.

I have no clue about expenses, but I would think making one with a 3D printer would cost a fraction of what the Nomad one does.
Yeah, I would expect the materials are pennies...so to speak, but, if you have to spend time creating the design and getting it going, babysitting it (if needed) clean up afterwards, etc could you not make more than the $50 doing what you normally make for a living in the time that it takes for all of this process? That was my original thought.

  • Costs $50
  • Charger not included
  • Doesn't solve problem of weighing down enough to pick up phone one handed
What... what is the purpose of this $50 product?

I would rather use my qi charger and if I really need those fast charging features of MagSafe I will just use those instead of pouring $50 bucks.......NO MAD!

Every time I see one of these MagSafe accessories I think of how much I like my simple Anker charging stand; it puts my phone at a convenient angle on my desk and nightstand, stays put when I pick my phone up, and is so inexpensive I can buy multiple to place around my house and office. It charges in portrait or landscape, too. Set the phone down, pick it up with one hand... what could be easier?
Anker makes great stuff. I've loved everything I've purchased from them.

Thank you for the reply and explanation! :) The fact it doesn’t stay on the desk every time was more important anyways, but it still felt strange to only have a guesstimate of its weight.

$50 on top of $39? Insane. An accessory which is more expensive than the accessory itself? At least it should provide some sort of adhesive for the table.

Rather get Magsafe Duo instead. At least it has detachable cable and features an Apple Watch charger.

Someone needs to make an electromagnet Magsafe mount where the customer can alter the magnetic strength to their desired strength.
Better yet; use the camera/proximity/faceID sensors built into the phone.

So as a hand approaches (to lift the phone) turn off the electromagnet.

I don’t see how this can be an honest review. Definitely a conflict of interest considering the recent 20% off post where macrumors clearly states it receives kickbacks on sales.

I am always surprised at the folks who post on an Apple related site and are shocked about Apple related prices.
