If needed, you can always buy a bluetooth range extender
i have an architect question for the power users in this group.
i currently have my property all smart-homed-up. sprinkler, thermoststat, lights, myq w/rasberry pi & homekit integration. works great.
i also have a rental property (1 year minimum lease, not airBnB style). i would like to add the base smart-home features of a schlage front door lock, ecobee thermostat, orbit bhyve sprinkler controller, and myq garage door opener (essentially the same features i have on my current property, except in the rental home).
to simplify the process, since wifi connectivity (SSID w/pw) lives embedded in each product, i'm thinking about also providing a pre-configured router (linksys 3200acm tri-mode dual band MIMO). the renters would still be required to purchase their internet service
provider ... after that, we'd just plug the router into the internet modem, and away they go. the renters would have to agree to stick with 1 SSID (the one i chose upon configuring all the devices). should they choose to use homekit, the renters would also need to provide their own hub (apple tv, ipad, homepad, etc.) ... or, they could simply use each manufactorers individual app (if they are an android user).
so my goal is to give both the current renters as well as myself the ability to control devices, with perhaps giving them renters limited/no control over the sprinkler system.
first, does this proposed setup seem reasonable?
second, when the renters vacate, how do i de-activate their control over my devices? typically each devices has internet login for each app ... this would be MY login i used to register the product ... so if the renters are android users, i'm trying to figure out how they can control the devices without compromising my login UID credentials ... if the renters are apple users and they've used a hub w/homekit, how do i remove/deauthorize the devices within their home app?
sorry for the long(er) post ... trying to think this through before implementing ...
