I just bought the E7/JETech stand for 2 for 7 bucks on ebay... and I used a $25 credit to buy it. Works just fine... these things are silly. Don't spend more than $10 for one.

Completely useless - unless you simply rotate the Watch 90 degrees and place it on the stand that way instead.

There's even a picture that shows this orientation in the full article.

Whoops. I stand corrected.

It is a nice looking stand. Hmm.

Looks nice. Wonder if you can also place the watch sideways if you have the braclet

Most watch stands are just overpriced. Why pay $50+ for a piece of metal/plastic/wood that doesn't do anything but hold a charger that you supply yourself?

It's just a matter of personal taste.

I'm happy to buy a stand that's easy to use and that (I think) looks really nice, especially as I'll see and use it every day.

It's also possible that one stand could last a good while, unless there are major design differences in future versions of Apple Watch.

But it's already outdated, as it won't work properly with watchOS 2's signature feature.

You're right, but that feature won't matter to everyone.

Everyone who needed to tell the time at night somehow managed OK before they got their Apple Watches.

I'm happy with my clock radio, which also has a much bigger display and a "thrash around blindly and still manage to hit it" snooze button. :)

Absolutely, but that still doesn't make this a particularly future-proof design. A fine design for plenty of people, perhaps, but as far as "major design differences in future versions of Apple Watch" go, they're already here.

Sure, but you can make arguments like that about virtually every single feature of ᴡᴀᴛᴄʜ.

What we really need is a stand with a gyration and vibration feature to simulate the way your arm moves while running. Then we can burn calories in our sleep and show out impressive numbers to our coworkers ;)

They're not already here. There is no version of Apple Watch that can't be docked to this stand and no new version of Apple Watch has yet been announced, let alone any with a major design difference that would render this - or any other stand - obsolete for the primary purpose of docking Apple Watch for charging.

Nightstand will be useful to me when travelling, but I didn't buy Apple Watch with any expectation of using it as my primary bedside clock.

Talking about that. Are any of the "skin sim" hacks working out that fakes the surface of the skin so the Apple Watch continues to operate?

$75 for a begginners woodshop class project. $20 at the most imo.

$75 stand that prob costs $2 or a new band which also costs $2 to make lol

The there is cost of design, promotion, manufacturing, staff pay, fulfillment, shipping, operating insurance, IP registration and taxes. It adds up.

You are right but after you add all those up it shouldn't be more than $8 total. One thing is to double your money another to 7x. In the end it doesn't matter what we think. Consumers will determine the real worth.

Real world is post #26 for you.
Unless this wood one is made by a guy in his basement a a hobby I can see them drop down in price dramatically.

No more than $8 for a beautiful, handcrafted, real wood stand made by an artisanal US manufacturer?

Including shipping?

OK, if you say so.

Whatever price the market will bear.

Who says $8 retail. I said that would be the prob cost to make and ship when you add everything. So like I said in my orig post; this should cost $20 at the most.

It's not my fault you spent $75 on a high school wood shop project. But imo based on all yor answers here to everybody you are prob the one making them.
