if you haven't switched it back to the oleo yet, could you please take a full screen shot of the sgp ultra fine anti finger print with safari open on a page with a white background (ie. new york times webpage)?

it would be VERY much appreciated. i had the original sgp anti fingerprint but the difference was way too noticable for me to keep, if this is better i may wait and purchase this. the smudges and fingerprints that my oleo gets every day is starting to bug me more and more

When will this SGP Ultra Fine Anti-Fingerprint become available? I can't find it anywhere.....

I already commented on one of the other threads about a site I found earlier today. Go to cretouch.com. They should have the anti-fingerprint film you are looking for.

Sorry about that I already switched it. If hitteam's review doesn't include it I'd be glad to reshoot it, but I won't have time before this Sunday.

I just sent the SP out to hitteam, it should arrive Wednesday. Thanks again for doing that, it should be an interesting review.

SGP did a beta giveaway on Facebook so that some people could give them feedback on the protectors

Regarding SGP vs PS: I really think that the companies that make just one long asymmetric cut for both the front camera and ear speaker (like SGP) are being lazy. PS made two separate precision-cut holes that looks a lot classier/custom. No brainer in my book.

OK so I got one of the beta Ultra Fine screen protectors today and I was so excited! I had been using the Oleophobic, but it was not easier to wipe off and the oils and smudges were driving me nuts. I've had my phone since launch day, so I've been looking at this beautiful retina display for a month and a half and I thought the smudges were driving me so crazy that I can deal with a little less clarity just to not see smudges. Now that I've put on the Ultra Fine, I'm not so sure anymore. I had the SGP anti-fingerprint on the 3GS and it never bothered me but with the iphone 4, most websites, angry birds, and certain bright app icons (phone, text msg) look really grainy. Looking at photos and videos with the Ultra Fine doesn't bother me though. Everything else is great-fit, alignment, texture, no bubbling. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents. :D

Shame they don't do EX Ultra Fine any more. Would have loved the dry application matte back.

do what i did use the oleophobic + wax.. its crystal clear, and its more fingerprint proof + wipes off a lot easier

My Review

I got my Ultra Fine for beta-testing yesterday. I'd say it does a good job of not blurring the retina display, it still looks sharp. In fact, my husband and I both agree that it's sharper than his PowerSupport anti-glare HD protector.

However.... on a bright background (Mail, Safari, etc.) there is a lot of "noise" noticeable. It makes the white very colorful instead of white.

I think if SGP can find a way to reduce the noise, then the Ultra Fine will be better than the PS HD. For now it's a trade-off between clarity (Ultra Fine is more sharp) and noise (PS HD has less rainbowing / noise effect).

Kills the retina display. Big time.

I had used my iPhone4 for a month with the crappy screen protector that came along with my incipio feather. Nothing great, but it did preserved the beauty of the display.
I love the feel of the Ultra fine antifingerprint: it has no drag and it is in fact much better than any other screen protector I tried before (or even better than naked). The installation is really easy; it comes with 2 films, a squeegee thing and a microfiber cloth.
However, I cannot stand the loss of sharpness - it is really disturbing. The clarity of the retina display is really decreased and on white or bright backgrounds, you can really tell the 'graininess of the display'... It does not look worse than my powersupport antiglare on a 3GS; in fact, it might not look worse to anybody who installs the SGP right away after getting the iPhone. However, if you get used to the retina display, you'll hate the SGP.
I realize that you cannot have the best of both world and I was looking for a matte, antifingerprint protector, that preserves the screen clarity. Well, it looks like this is not going to happen before some time (reading posts here and there - and looking at the PS antiglare review)...
so for me, it'll be the SGP oleo...

hope that helps...

While I agree that the graininess is distracting on a bright background, I have to disagree with the loss of clarity. The SGP Ultra Fine has much better clarity (ie, no blurring or fuzziness) than the Steinheil Anti-Fingerprint, and even noticeably better than the PS HD anti-glare.

just got mine in the mail as well, and although the above maybe true to other products, this film destroys retina. This is my first time applying a SP, but wow light colored backgrounds take a major hit. It's really too much for me to even keep this on. I love the retina too much and i can't leave this on.

It does what it says, and that's keeping fingerprints away. Does a fantastic job of this.

I want to go with oleo, but honestly, I'm even scared to try that out in fear that it will take away from the screen. Lesson learned, either enjoy clarity with occasional wipes here and there, or suffer from clarity loss with minor wipe. Can't have both.

If you're going to go with the Oleo, don't worry about clarity loss, there is zero. When that SP is on, you can't even tell it's there. But repeated use leads to lots of fingerprints and oil needing to be constantly wiped away.

The Ultra Fines that I got in the beta supposedly were delivered this morning so we'll see how I like them when I get home. I love the retina display as much as the next person but depending on the quality of these, I'd be willing to make a sacrifice.

I'll take the anti glare over finger prints any day. :)
