You forgot that you can use XM5s without battery, analog, unlike APMs. Biiiiiiiiiiiiiig difference.

I do own APMs and Beoplay H7, I can switch battery on H7 and I can use them analog as long as I want/need. Not having power button on APMs is just plain ridiculous.

I didn't forget about it, its just not an important feature to me. I use wireless headphones, wirelessly, exclusively.

Looks like they are very good headphones and significantly cheaper than AirPods Max
I'm sure the Sonys will eventually come down in price too -- but Amazon often has AirPods Max for as low as $450, $475 or so on sale.

Sound is the raison d’être of a set of headphones. So, if the sonys sound worse than the APM, then they are not objectively better than the APM.
What good does a great sounding pair make if you can’t stand it for more than 30 minutes?

Just ordered the XM5s and will have them later today. Can’t wait to check them out.

I'd love to see a photo of the two cases from the side while they lay on a table. Are they the same thickness? Hard to tell from the photo provided but it seems like the 5's may lay slightly flatter?

Ok, fair enough, but $500 headphone should be versatile.
Minor niggle with your post, but what do you mean by ‘versatile’?

Are you saying that you think the XM5’s should be more versatile compared to the APM’s or vice- versa. Just genuinely curious.

I think he means that the Airpods Max should be more versatile, and I couldn't agree more. One of the reasons I picked the XM4 over the AirPods Max last year was because of this. I use my XM4 with my iPhone, my Surface Pro, my HP Laptop, Xbox Series X, Switch and my PS5.

With the AirPods Max it would be a nightmare, and way more troublesome to use wired with the laptop and consoles. With the XM4 I can switch between all of them and just plug to the 3.5 mm port with the consoles mainly. Even used them without having them turned on. They are way more versatile.

Understand this is not an issue for folks on an Apple only ecosystem, but definitely that's not my case.

I got the XM5 a week ago and am immensely enjoying them as they are some of the best sounding headphones. The light weight makes them even more enjoyable. I didn't realize how much the weight makes a big difference in the amount of time you can keep these on your head. The 3.5mm jack, the ability to turn on/off adaptive NC, long battery life makes the overall UX very pleasurable.

I was talking about Airpods Max, I can understand that you don't have enough space on miniature devices like Airpods Pro, but on over-ear headphone there is definitely enough room to include power button and analog port. Power button, I am sure, can be implemented by long press on volume button, but Apple is stubborn. HomePod is another example of Apple's stubbornness.

I read the review and the whole thread but I still can't figure out if the XM5's support "Spatial Audio" on Apple TV/Ipads/Iphone on Apple TV+, Netflix, Disney and so on.
So do they?

Thank you.

I don’t disagree. Apple obviously was going for a very sophisticated-clean look with the Max, but I do agree that the power button and port could have easily been implemented, but this is Apple we’re talking about, and they try to put a different ‘spin’ on their products that might make compromises from the competition.

Just got the XM5's. Any good EQ settings? I've been listening to the Excited setting but the bass seems a bit heavy on some tracks.
