Wow, utterly worthless. This is why they include the extension cord. Additionally, I don't think it's safe to have it flush and have any furniture propped against it. These things get pretty hot when the machine is under full load. On top of all that, TWENTY dollars for this!? Wow!

I think it's a novel idea. Power adapters are definitely an area that we need improved. A heat-generating (therefore energy-wasting) "power brick" is going to be laughed at in 10 years because we'll have finally figured out a better solution. I think houses should have "smart plugs" that deliver only the amount of juice needed to power the devices plugged in... essentially, an adaptive power brick built into the wall. But that would be expensive until widely available.

I agree about the price... $20 is pure greed. I wish these companies would not try to make a get-rich-quick product. If they priced it for long-term success, they'd avoid the negative "sticker shock" reactions. But who knows... maybe their manufacturer is charging them $10 per unit to make? We don't know the back story.

never understood why Apple insists on this big bulky cube, it puts too much pressure on the thin cable too

Sorry to say, but American outlets are just pure ****. They wiggle, the plugs fall out if you touch them, the extension cords keep disconnecting...

Sounds like you encountered an excessively abused and worn outlet. I've experienced the same with EU outlets, so it's not specific to the type used here.

In normal usage, outlets remain solid and hold the plugs firmly. If one is broken it's $1 or so for a new outlet (depending on style) and five minutes time to replace (after figuring out which circuit breaker to turn off).

So many people bashing this product. Does it have design flaws? Yes. But if nobody invented anything where would we be? Personally I have admiration for people that actually take a chance, design, manufacture and bring a product to market.

If you don't like it/have a use for it, don't buy it.

It's Macrumors, we tend to bash stuff. :D

Seriously, my biggest issues is MR posting a review that seems far more like an advertisement. They'd already covered this item months ago.

I definitely do applaud people bringing innovative solutions to market. I'm a bit less enthusiastic about new solutions to problems that've already been solved for a fifth of the price.

Having trouble with furniture and your power adapter? Use a $4 three-outlet plug adapter: http://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Polar...ace-Saving-Side-Outlets-White-54188/203750910

Or just use the three-prong cord that came with your power adapter.

attractive blue plastic? lol come on make it believable that the review is not paid or given for free.

I like blue and I think it looks nice. We don't do paid reviews at MacRumors, FYI. Never have, never will.

You've gotta wonder with a lot of these front-page 'reviews'.

Okay they didn't pay you up front, but if we click the link to purchase it, then MR get a cut.

It's an okay idea, but deserving of a front page story? I think not. GIMMICK!

I swear I've already got a (white) one of these sitting around somewhere that I purchased for about $2.

We do not get a cut of any Blockhead purchase. This is true for all things we review.

I thought I had seen this before on MR. Thanks for finding the original.

Maybe someone from MR can explain why there are two articles on the same product in so little time, just an oversight?

The original post was an announcement that it was on sale. This is a follow up review, something we do fairly often, especially when products prove popular. There was a lot of interest in the Blockhead.

2nd one looks more convenient to me. its longer and therefore spreads the weight out more properly instead of pushing all the weight to the center. Cant explain it but i am always afraid the cable is gonna come off when i lift the thing off the ground

That may be the difference in our views. I've never thought it wise to lift a power adapter by its cord in all the twenty plus years I've owned laptops. I always grab them by the body to avoid taxing the cable strain relief.

I appreciate the flexibility of the Apple adapters. Being able to use either the included longer white mains (wall) cord or the two-prong duckhead as the situation dictates is a benefit over the others that all require the second cord. With the two prongs folder, it's pretty sleek, albeit I understand the UK/EU adapters are more ungainly. Still, in those cases you still have the cord you can use. (they do include this in the box over there, don't they? https://www.amazon.com/Extension-European-Standard-Macbook-17-inch/dp/B00FDLP6DC)

Use them first. They are not more convenient. Two pieces that come apart easily, an actual plug that can be difficult to find if you forget yours. The block has 0 cable management and looks like every other chord you take with you. It's annoying

There is this product that you can plug into the wall and the sockets will be to the right and left and it should save you buying this dedicated device

LMFAO!!!

Whoever the chief architect of this product should get fired and should never be hired again by any other company. The CEO of this company should dissolved his company and go flip burgers at McDonald's. God knows why in the hell would someone make a blue piece of adapter to fit into a device that only comes in white color. Now not only that, they are some small fish company .. but they think they make some accessories for apple, they should be able to sell stuffs at apple price tag...

I've had knowledge in similar product manufacturing process... Given it doesn't have an apple logo attached to it, the accessory should be sold around $5 max!!!
