I purchased it as soon as I saw it here on MacRumors. As a power-traveler, I often struggle to use the brick alone in some hotels or older homes I visit.

1) The wall receptacle internal prongs are so worn out; the weight of the Apple brick won't stay connected and drops to the floor.
2) In other cases, the wall outlet is behind some non-movable object whereby I can't reach the wall receptacle with the power brick.

The fabric covered AC cable is longer than the Apple version and is more pliable, so it's easier to stuff in my small cable accessory bag. As for the light, I didn't think it would be bright enough to be of any value, but I was wrong. The price compared to the Apple cable, required that I forego a second Starbuck's drink for 2-days.

I guess it's nice if you are into gadgets that don;t really serve a a real need.

While I do think this is a bit on the frivolous side, I can think of numerous occasions where it would have been useful in allowing me to actually be able to see how to align the plug with the outlet. I have had to plug my computer, and others’ too, into outlets that are behind or under desks or inside cabinets where there is little or no light. This would have been very useful in those situations. That being said, I still don’t plan on becoming a customer for this plug.
