It's not really a joke as there's nothing funny about it. Seems like the poster also essentially effectively confirmed that as well.

Actually it was funny. Do you honestly not know that with a peephole you have to be home & looking out the door,..:D

Great review! Quick Q: what is a “tgtermhe speaker”?

On a more serious note, this looks great, but I have to say that satellite-dish ringer button would confuse me as a visitor looking for a button. Perhaps it looks more like a button in person, but from the photos, it seems very non-button like.

You know everybody is going to be pushing on the lens.

And thus the apples to oranges "comparison", which doesn't really have a joke part in it (again, as effectively confirmed by the poster that made the post too).

See who's at your door.. with no monthly fees*

* You have to be home.. and looking out your door.
Well yeh. But most of the time your stuff wont be getting stolen or your house broken into.

So fundamentally this is to be used to see who is standing at your door, ringing your door bell.

Unless you are physically at home, it doesnt matter which of your mates is at the door.. theyre not getting in if you’re not there.

So I think 99.9736382% of the time..the peephole does the job just as well.

Pending you can get your glued netflix addicted butt off the couch to walk to the door.. which you’ll have to do to let the person in either way ;)

As the above mentioned, Skybell is also free of monthly fees. ...and the picture doesn't look like trash, unlike the one in this "review"/paid advertisement. Skybell might look like trash for a split second until the camera adjusts for the current lighting, but at 11 seconds in like the review photo shows, you'll be able to see MUCH more than a furry blob with an animal of some sort like this camera does. Let's not forget that Skybell gives you 7 days of storage for free, not the skimpy 48 hours of Arbor. I can see why they only used Ring and Nest in their comparison infographic on the Indiegogo page...

I first got a Ring Pro and had nothing but connection issues which Ring tried to blame on me having too good of a wifi signal. Yeah, exactly. That doesn't make a damn bit of sense to me either. They sent me a Chime Pro to see if that would help, but no dice. I still randomly would have an all black screen but no sound or it just wouldn't connect at all. I gave it a shot, but then the Skybell HD was on sale for about $80, so I gave that a shot and I've never looked back. The video quality is actually decent on this one compared to the Ring and I've had zero connection issues at all. Loads up great and having no monthly fee was just the cherry on top. Nighttime video works well also. Now I have it linked to my SmartThings hub and it takes a screencap every 5 minutes and I bought two more for family. Highly recommended.

Free cloud storage regardless of capacity only works for mega companies as it’s a cost that needs to be covered indefinitely. I wouldn’t be surprised if they start charging for it in a few years or even shut down due to spiraling costs and reducing income from device sales.
