The reviews are in, and I’m actually more excited about this phone. The 12s were steps back in battery life for modest improvement in camera/speed and a new form factor. The 13 models, relative to the 11 models (both pro and non pro) give you improved battery life, two years of meaningful camera improvements, a few new features (refresh rate on the Pro). This is the one to get

I went from the XS PM to the 12 PM and that was a good upgrade but it was not a huge improvement than if I had gone to the 11. The 12 PM has the lidar sensor which does seem to help a lot with camera focus. Now the 13 ups the camera game some more, mostly with more AI software tricks plus the longer telephoto which will be nice for portraits. The cinematic and Prores video should be fun to play with. Of course the better battery and 120hz screen are great as well. It would have been nice to have gotten some or all of this in the 12 PM but it is what it is and the reason I am upgrading again this year.

The "s" releases are always the best -- solid improvements built on a strong foundation. And, ignore the naysayers who whine about "no innovation." It's untrue. iPhone 13 has worthy upgrades, and these are really solid phones that could serve you for half a decade.
My favorite iPhones have been "S" models. It gave Apple the time to see what the users say was wrong with the initial release and get it sorted out.

Which makes me all the more excited for Friday! Complete camera system upgrade, 120 Hz, higher peak brightness and better battery life are all the things I could have ever asked for, and as a nice bonus, the notch has also been shrunk by a little bit. Unless there are really enticing new features on the horizon, I'll probably keep the 13 for the next three to five years.

I agree, the iPhone 6 in particular always stood out to me in that regard. People gave it all the attention due to the new form factor, but the real star of the show was the 6s. It brought more RAM for a better user experience and brought an entirely new way to interact with the phone using 3D Touch. Sure, the styling was largely the same as the 6, but experience-wise it was so much better than the standard 6.

I’m gping from 11 Pro to 13 Pro, have upgraded every two years for a while now. I tend to see more differences when upgrading every two years. Can’t wait for Friday!

The main sensor is better at low light than the Sony RX100 VII. RX100 VII aperture of f2.8 with a 2.72x crop factor (one-inch sensor) is equivalent to a full-frame f7.6. iPhone 13 pro max aperture of f1.5 with 4.55x crop factor (1/1.7" sensor)is equivalent to a full-frame f6.8.

I have the X battery 77% - preordered the 13 max but scared the 14 will be a massive upgrade no notch mainly... and new design, cancel preorder and hold out just 1 more year?

At 77% battery capacity you must have a horrible experience? I replaced the battery in my X at 89% because I could barely get a day out of it. Now I’m sitting comfortably at 100% capacity and gonna wait for a phone that’s worth upgrading to!

The X is just too good to throw out still.

This is Apple we are talking about. The iPhone 14 will be the same phone as the iPhone 13 basically.

Thanks for reassurance so the 13 pro max should tie me over for 3-4 years? Value then I assume would be 50% of the price

I don't know, I've got an 11 Pro Max I'm pretty happy with. 94% battery life. Feels like a want more than a need.

I’m upgrading from my 12, but I’m going pro for the first time, so I think it’ll still feel like a decent upgrade. The camera, brightness outdoors, additional storage (I only got 64 on the 12, planning to upgrade to a pro), and extra battery life should be nice perks. It turns out my son’s camera lens is smashed on his 11, so he’ll be able to have my 12.

Ah the nice “I have to upgrade because somebody needs my phone “ path
Always a winner.

I believe with Pro upgrade you will be very content.

still not seeing the benefit to upgrade from my 8 plus when the "experience" is 99.9% the same

The only reason I upgraded my iPhone X to the iPhone 11 Pro Max, was because I need a big phone with a big screen. Else I would still be using my iPhone X most likely.

What would make you upgrade?

I’m coming from a 5 year old 7 plus (with a 71% battery life) to a 13 pro max. Imagine my excitement
