I think you’re going to be quite pleased with the performance, although I have to say those big flat 6-8 pluses were some of my faves.
Yeah, this phone served me well but I’m so ready to get rid of it lol. I’ve replaced the battery once, had the mic issue fixed and now it’s slow to respond to a lot of basic functions. Oh, did I mention it’s only 32gb lol

My favorite iPhones have been "S" models. It gave Apple the time to see what the users say was wrong with the initial release and get it sorted out.

Same. Their very best, most mature and longest-lived phones always suffix with an S. 4S, 5S, 6S, and yes the XS. You could be using a XS today and in its case most people couldn't tell it apart from an 11 Pro or a 12.

I think they actually broke their system when they failed to do a major update for 2 years after the 6S.

What would make you upgrade?
It depends how long my X holds out! To me it’s not worth upgrading until I can feel a difference in day to day use. The camera is still good enough, speed is not bad at all, it runs the latest software, etc.

However a feature that could make me upgrade earlier is if Apple would make a folding phone with no compromise in battery life and no crease.

Which makes me all the more excited for Friday! Complete camera system upgrade, 120 Hz, higher peak brightness and better battery life are all the things I could have ever asked for, and as a nice bonus, the notch has also been shrunk by a little bit. Unless there are really enticing new features on the horizon, I'll probably keep the 13 for the next three to five years.

I agree, the iPhone 6 in particular always stood out to me in that regard. People gave it all the attention due to the new form factor, but the real star of the show was the 6s. It brought more RAM for a better user experience and brought an entirely new way to interact with the phone using 3D Touch. Sure, the styling was largely the same as the 6, but experience-wise it was so much better than the standard 6.
Yes the 6s was superb.
But with the 13 the RAM wasn’t upgraded and is same 4GB as it was on the XS. This is quite cheap on Apples side and i fear the 13 won’t be running good in a few years.

there are already 12GB phones…

I've owed the 3g, 5, 7, X, and now 11 (Pro Max). Early on, by the time I got to 2 years the phone was too slow/old to keep up. For the first time I don't fee like it's any slower or more prone to issues than two years ago. This may be the first time I don't get a new one after 2 years. I just don't need a new one and there isn't any significant must have feature for me.
