Revision B?

How long do you think it will take for Apple to make the first set of changes / fixes to its Macbook? I was planning on buying one, but the heat issues have scared me away so far. Is there a general length of time that it usually takes Apple for this sort of thing?

I doubt the heat issues will be fixed. The next revision may still even use Core Duo since this is a low-end consumer notebook. But rev C will use Merom.
