I just received this this keyboard. I've seen some older threads about it on these forums. But, I wanted to add my thumbs up for this product.

I'm guessing there are many of you out there that have never experienced a mechanical keyboard. Let me say it is worth a try. Maybe I'm just taking out my Pandemic frustrations by vigorous typing on it ;)

Before reading further know that this is a USB cabled keyboard. It is not BT. But you do get two USB ports on the back of the Das. It does not have keys that are backlighted.

I'm hoping I can use a memory card adaptor of one of the USB ports so I don't have to reach around the iMac for the memory card slot. So for me the lack of BT is okay on my iMac.

As you would expect this keyboard feels a lot different than the recent Apple keyboards. Very tactile, and the "clicker-clack" sound is great audible feedback. Apple's recent keyboards certainly look nice, and minimal. But I've never been a fan of the shallow actuation of the keys.

It has volume controls, sleep button, page-up/page down buttons, mute button, numeric calculator key pad, and the normal Apple command, option, monitor brightness, and ctrl keys.

My only "con" is that this is one long in length keyboard due to the full size calculator pad (built-in to the right). The overall length is similar to a Apple keyboard with trackpad. But, with the Apple trackpad added to to the Das' right (or a right hand mouse) it is a reach. If you use an ambidextrous mouse or trackpad, to the left, the reach of course is reduced.

I do see they have a Windows keyboard that excludes the built-in calculator keys. No Mac one yet. I've e-mailed the and urged them to make that happen.

I may just set up the Apple trackpad to the left of the Das just to give me a choice between tracking the cursor with either hand. I run two external monitors beside my iMac in portrait mode. Oddly, as a lefty I have always used my right hand for a mouse or trackpad. So using a right hand placed track-pad might be interesting, even for this leftie.

Das does have a 30 day return period. Though, I was surprised to see a 20 percent re-stocking fee. That is a bit much I think as the keyboard is far from inexpensive. Also you have to pay return shipping. But, having said that, I love this keyboard so much I'd never think of returning it!!!

Thanks for your post on this keyboard.

Quick question... Does the Das work fine for you after a sleep/wake?

Back when I was running on Mac OS Sierra, the Das wouldn't work after sleep/wake... Please see my old thread here for details

I'm sorry to hear of you problems. As, this keyboard is a great improvement IMHO over the Apple BT I had been using.

So far I have not had any wake from sleep issues. I did just receive the keyboard yesterday, but I've let the Late 2015 iMac go to sleep three or four times during day one. Note, I've been using an Apple BT keyboard before the arrival of the DAS.

Today, it did wake right from sleep from the keyboard. I pretty sure my iMac is only USB 2.0 BTW. I didn't even have my mouse turned on so I knew it was the keyboard that woke up the sleeping iMac.

From what I read from your link to an old posting, if I read it correctly, you are using an external hub? I've never used an external hub on the iMac, but I've been tempted.

Could the hub be the issue? With the Das attached can you wake up your laptop via the trackpad or mouse? Does the Das Keyboard work for typing if that is the case? Just wondering if the Das totally disrupts your computer?

I did read on their web site that firmware updates were available. I'm not sure what Das models they have firmware updates for. I did not find any links. Maybe email them? I may do the same, as I figure every OS update can bring about issues with software and hardware. Oh for the days of the //+ I had, no updates there ;)

So what OS version are you running right now?

I don't know if this will be of any help but the label on mine says Model No. is DASK4MACCLI-3G7-r1.2

Kind of hard to type it out with the keyboard upside down ;) Kidding of course!

The Part No. is D4215-SU-0025.

Please let us/me know if you find a solution. I know it would be helpful for current and future owners of the Das.

Thanks for your reply!

I no longer have the keyboard because the sleep/wake issue was never resolved. However, I do keep an eye out for posts about it - if it looks like the issue is resolved, I'd like to buy it again!

My Das was r1.0... I see yours is a newer r1.2.

At the time, I tried with and without various hubs. The only way the Das woke reliably was plugged straight into the MBP. If the Das was plugged into a hub, the computer would wake and work via other means, but the Das still had to be replugged each wake to make it work.

That was back when I was using Sierra. I'm now on Mojave. Moving to Mojave got my Logitech Bluetooth mouse working again, so maybe the Das might work again. Unfortunately, with restocking fees and return postage, it's not worth buying just to test!
