Hi all,

Bit of a pleasent surprise.

I bought a Nike Sports strap to go with the AW6. I was expecting to send it back unopened and just stick with Sports loops from now on.

However, I opened the box and had a look. Really surprised and happy with it. It feels great and really premium. Also sturdy and precise slotting onto the watch. Happy to pay the £50 for this bit of quality work.

I went for a cycle, comfortable, no hassles, perfect for sweaty sports.... Ok I’ll keep it for sports and use the “sports” loop for everyday wear.

RE: The silky waxy feel of Nike sports band - Finish goes after a time
What gives?! So I went back to the old S2 with its equivalent Nike Sports strap to try on again - It felt like wearing a nasty sticky plastic strap. I dug out the other unused strap end - The original SM strap End, and that feel silky like my new Nike band. (Not as nice, but much like It.)

So looks like what has happened is I’ve stripped away the nice finish of the old Nike Strap - after 3/4 years of daily constant sweating and washing in soapy water, the nice silky finish has gone. This is one of the reasons why I have found it harder and harder to wear the S2 all the time.

RE: Revitalising the silky waxy feel of Nike sports band

Ok, onto my question. Hoping there are some swimmers / sporties / ocd people out there that can advise :)

Is there any products you have tried that works for revitalising these types of straps? Nice feel, non allergenic, non greasy Etc. etc.

I have used leather restorer on motorbike leathers etc. but we are taking about Plastic silicone straps here, for every day home use settings, not smokey garages And out on the road etc.

Hope you an advise

Martin

hhhhmmmm bit OTT for my needs here!

Missus reckons the old watch strap is done - can’t restore it. However I can simply be a lot more gentle with the new Nike strap. If I’m only wearing it for sports and not to sleep with, then just gentle soaping and rinse and gentle pat dry, until smells manky, then worry about it. The old strap lasted 3 years of over washing, so gentle washing should make it last a lot longer, onto the next watch etc.

Martin :)
