ok it is/was the dvd drive, it is slowly (well quickly now) going bad. the tech (yes apple cert) put a new one in and it works.

soo, not sure who, if anyone wins (other than the tech guiy who charges by the hour).

Mblazened - said IF THAT DOES NOT WORK MAYBE BAD HARDWARE.... but that does not really feel like its worth $5.

what do you all think?

Christ, its FIVE DOLLARS. Send him the five. The DVD drive is hardware and the DVD drive was bad.

Had you took this into accoutn and tried to install from, say, an external CD-RW he would have won.

Don't try to skip out on the five bucks... pay the man his due.
