The Spotify app that offers pretty much the same functionality (altho does have an offline mode) has been in review with Apple for a month now.

Real better not hold there breath...

Expecting a reject decision anytime.

thats so lame. how long do you need to review something to know whether it competes with your own products. JUst they way of leading developers on and not having to reject them and get a big backlash. Apple need to get the stick out their ass and just be happy people spent money on their phones.....soon enough people will cause an uproar and Apple will be forced to deliver what we want. these types of services will be the norm soon and Apple will have to follow suit. I can see them launching their own service similar to this, might be one of the reasons they reject things like this.

Real Haters

Wow, Lots of people really hate Real. I guess non of you have ever used Rhapsody, because it's actually pretty awesome.

1. In terms of functionality, I don't see how this app is any different from Pandora or any other music streaming service - except that this one has a service fee tacked on. So, I see no reason why it would be denied. It does not compete with iTunes until it actually lets you purchase mp3s directly on the phone.

2. $15. I know we've all been indoctrinated with SJ's "nobody wants to rent their music" philosophy, but lots of people would love to rent their music. I've always used Rhapsody as a way to supplement my music library. For the price of one and a half albums per month, you get unlimited access to A LOT of music. Just for the purposes of finding new music, Rhapsody is worth it.

3. Rhapsody is better than the iTunes Store. Ouuuuu burn. Not in terms of content. In terms of organization. iTunes organization is a joke, and its layout is very "Single-Centric", where as Rhapsody is definitely more "Artist-Centric". Rhapsody allows you to learn a lot about the Artists you are listening to, and provides a wiki-like linking system that lets you find similar artists - chosen by human beings by the way, not by robots. They've spent a lot of time on organization, because they aren't worried about selling you singles.

4. You can use Rhapsody on any computer connected to the internet. This is how Rhapsody is invaluable. Say you're at a friends house and a different friend wants you to here some bit of music. They don't have their iPod, and they aren't at home, but they can jump on your Rhapsody account and play it for you. Rhapsody is like having one of those internet jukeboxes they have at bars, only it has almost all the music you like and your friends like, and you can use it as much as you want where ever there is an internet connection. And hopefully soon, whenever you have your iPhone/iPod.
