What makes you think that Apple wants DRM? Did you read this from more than a year ago? It's still the music labels that are requiring Apple to sell DRM music.

If we belive what Steve Jobbs said in is famous open letter "Thoughts on Musuc" in Feb 2007 he calims that Apple doesn't want to us DRM.

ITunes plus is slowly releasing DRM free music at the 256 kbit/s rate.

What happend to the $0.30 prememum is diffucult to know. Did Apple or the record compaines cut there losses on this. I presume it was Apple.

Too bad the Rhapsody service isn't available to customers outside the US; typical, companies wonder why they fail, then they do noble prize winning stupid things like prohibiting overseas customers from purchase stuff from them.

This is actually pretty easy to know, since Apple makes only a few pennies on each iTMS sale.

See above. The labels call the shots. Every country is separate negotiation.

Not really an excuse, they need to make the effort.

This was from SJ's letter -

Much of the concern over DRM systems has arisen in European countries. Perhaps those unhappy with the current situation should redirect their energies towards persuading the music companies to sell their music DRM-free.

Rather ironically in Europe we are pretty much stuck with the DRM (except EMI).

You can safely bet that they are making the effort -- unless you believe that any company really likes being at a competitive disadvantage.

Again, I think we know why this is happening.
