Can’t seem to find any answer on this, searched everywhere and even spoke to Apple support who were useless.

When my ring cams detect motion, i get a snapshot in the watch notification so i can instantly see what it is.

I’ve switched to HomeKit and just added a HKSV camera. My watch simply tells me the camera has detected motion but no snapshot, and I have to get my phone out to see more.

This seems so backwards it almost can’t be correct. How can ring do this, yet a camera that is fully integrated into apples own platform can’t?

Another thing is the notification says ‘attachment: 1 image” but there is no image there. If I click the notification it simply tells me to watch the clip on my iPhone.

This functionality used to be there but had been removed or otherwise bugged somewhere in iOS14/WatchOS7… and it pisses me off to no end.

Problem is, I don’t think there are enough HomeKit users who also have an Apple Watch and HomeKit cameras to make a stink big enough to get Apple’s attention.

I’m forced to use notifications from the third party app which is one of the many reasons I haven’t switched to HKSV.

I agree and have experienced the same thing, however every now and then the notification does show up with a short video clip to watch like in the past. So I know it still works but not like in the past. Makes me think it's a software bug and the apps need to be updated to work with iOS14. (Watch Apps)

it could be a bug I guess.

I remember when ring finally introduced rich notifications last year, it was a revelation and probably the best feature of the whole thing, being able to instantly see who’s at the door without opening any apps.

As a bonus, it also worked on the watch as well which is why it’s so disappointing that a camera on apples own platform, as integrated as it gets, can’t do it!

Are you saying you see the rich notification from the HomeKit app on the Apple Watch?

On a side note, the HomeKit Apple Watch app needs a serious overhaul. It’s laggy, some cameras work with live feed, some don’t, all the sensors in the top row quick view field are showing up on the watch app as tiles…. It’s like Apple completely forgot about it since iOS12.

Nice surprise, this feature is now working on ios15 and watch os7, I am getting snapshots on my watch when motion is detected.
