ridiculous delay from 7200 rpm HD

EEeeeeep!

I just went to check my order status and I see:

"ACTION REQUIRED!

We are unable to obtain an authorization for the credit card you provided.

You can either re-enter the same payment information or enter a different card online."

I suppose... good news, they tried to charge me, but bad news... they couldn't? I'm about to call them, but I'm a little frazzled.

[Update]: Phew, just had to call my credit card company and authorize the payment. Heart skipped a beat there, but everything's back on track. Good news, I guess, then?
 
I ordered June 6 and have an estimated ship of July 19 (arrives 25th)... can anyone who ordered before me check their credit card activity and see if anything's going on?

I ordered the evening of the upgrade (6/5) and still show an estimated ship of July 18th, with an est. delivery of the 24th. As of an hour ago, no credit card activity, nor updates to the original shipping/delivery schedule.

BTW, first post after 2 years of lurking; thanks to all for fuelling my protracted conversion towards Apple. My first laptop is still in various part bins somewhere in Asia - can't be too long now. Please no yellow screen nonsense on this one!
 
Open letter to Apple re: MBP SR 15" 7200.
Arrrrrgh... please stop messing with my fragile little mind. First an email telling me all the things I can do with my new mac.... then faster ship dates for new orders...If this is some kind of joke... none of us are laughing. :p

I can't check my activity as I used my parent's credit card, but if we can check to see if there is activity, I'll let you guys know immediately what my status is.

Looks like the amount has been held on my credit card! I ordered mine June 10th.
 
There has been no charge to my credit card as of yet...but it may have all been charged together since I got an ipod and printer on the same ticket and I didn't check that charge.
 
the amount has been held on on my card as well! but the charge hasn't actually appeared yet, and i am still given the option to cancel my order.

ship 7/24
deliver 7/27

guess that means probably not the fujitsu drives, eh? it will be interesting to see what's in there--and i wonder if we'll ever know the real reason for the delay.
 
ok I ordered on the 11th and Apple put a hold on my CC which expires on the 26th. so they will charge it by tomorrow.

Do they charge when it ships? Or a couple days before?
 
The actual charge is when it ships. Appears they put a hold for that amount on the card beforehand.
 
My ship date is July 3rd, which is one week from tomorrow.

No activity on my CC, no change in order status, and I'm not getting my hopes up yet!

I'm out of the country as of late July so if it's not shown up in time I'll probably cancel and work out what to do about a new laptop after I get back. Hopefully it won't take that long though.
 
I ordered Jun 5, 2007 at 05:47 AM PDT; my order still shows "Not Yet Shipped"; and my credit card still shows nothing new.
 
I just called Apple and asked them to upgrade my shipping method. The change appeared on my order status immediately. The estimated shipping date, however, remained July 18th.

I'm the same as you, shipping 3rd July - no CC activity and still 'not shipped', it must be soon though!

did they charge for the change in shipping method? what is the other method?, does it arrive by Pigeon?

No charge. I was a numskull and didn't change the shipping method from the default before. My order details now say "2nd day" for shipping method.

I should have chosen this method before, but at least it demonstrates order status on the website updates quite frequently with regard to changes made by Apple support. Whether it is updated that frequently from the warehouse, that is another matter.
