Hi guys, I'm looking to get a new Macbook pro with the base storage, and velcro a 2TB NVME SSD/Enclosure to the lid. I figured the easiest way to make this permanent would be to get a cable with a 90 degree bend on one end, so when it attaches to the computer there's no chance of it bending/breaking off if I leave it hooked up permanently (Kinda like the 90 degree bend Magsafe connector from a while ago).

However, the only cables I've seen that do this are only for charging and not data transfer. Has anyone seen something that does data transfer with a 90 degree bend on one end?

Sorry. I wasn't aware of that. I use the Green usb-c extension cable (usb 3.1). I assumed the standard cable also was 3.1. My bad.

No worries, appreciate the help anyway. So strange that this doesn't exist eh? Maybe the USB C standard prohibits it or something?

I've used these for years, connecting my 5K Ultrafine (i.e. power, video, and dock) with no problems:

Thanks for this, might look into it too

I use 90° adapters - also works with Thunderbolt 3. I can use up to 5 connected together - any more causes the Thunderbolt connection to fail.

Thanks for that, Kinda leaning towards the 90 degree adaptor as they're more readily available and means I have a wider selection of cable length choice.
