Hi,

Rather than continue being frustrated by this I thought I'd see if there's a way to increase the delay between left clicking and right clicking to open up the contextual menu in Finder. Often, I'll search through a list of files, selecting multiple files as I go along. But it seems that if I don't right click straight away after making my choice, all the files are deselected and I have to go back through the list to highlight the files I want to copy or move. Hope you get what I mean. Or perhaps there's an extra key, in addition to the command or shift key, I can hold down...

Thanks,

NoBob.

I think I know what you're talking about, in the Finder. The best solution I can think of is using the gear menu in the toolbar of each Finder window instead of right-clicking. This contains the exact same options as the contextual right-click menu does.

One reason why your files might be deselecting has nothing to do with the delay, but rather whether or not your click was on a selected file. If you click outside a selection, the Finder will deselect it for you, assuming you meant to work with something outside the selection. If you right-click a selected file in a group, the menu will only show options appropriate for the selected files.
