Question:

I sold my preowned bought 8 plus to get the new SE

My 8 plus is at 83% batt health so i realize that i need to replaced the battery around next year for more or less 90$.

So i sold it and will get the brandnew SE by just adding 170$ and that's with a cheap case, tempered glass(front and back), camera lens and camera protector and home button protector lol!

Did i made a good decision? cause if ill get the brandnew SE i will use it for 5yrs or till it dies 😂 can the a13 handle that long?

Performance? Yeah, I expect so.

Be mindful that this only has a 1820 mAh battery though and will not last as long the 8 Plus. I wouldn't actually be surprised if your 8 Plus at 83% health delivers same battery life as a new SE 2.

I expect to be using my SE for a minimum of 3yrs, ideally 4yrs, and hopefully 5yrs.

I suspect the A13 will be fine for that, but what state the battery will be in by then is anyone’s guess. Lol.

i believe its a "downgrade"
Because only advantage you get with SE when compared to 8 plus is the software support for 2 more years coz there wont be a huge difference in a11 v a13 in a day to day activities

Also 83% battery health of 8 plus == 100% of SE

ofcourse other major difference is form factor. if you are looking for smaller screen then no point in creating this thread

Thanks! I did even think about that the battery performance. I was stuck at spending 90$ for a new battery or 180$ For a new processor and battery. Maybe ill replace the battery of the SE about three years to make it last longer

My old SE had okay battery life, unless I actually used it - at which point it seemed to drain away with alarming speed. Lol. I always seemed to be plugging it in, or carrying around a power bank with cable, to ensure it wouldn’t run out just when I needed it.

The difference with my new SE is the wireless charging. It’s far more convenient just to pop it on the charger when I’m at my desk, or next to the bed at nighttime. And, yes, I did also pick up a wireless charging powerbank - “just in case”, lol. The convenience of being able to top it up without plugging it in is, I think, going to be a major boon to me.

The iPhone 8 Plus already had the wireless charging, I think, so that’d be no different for you.

One thing I think about the new SE is that Apple are unlikely to be replacing it with any urgency. Whether you buy one today, next year, or the year after, it's likely to be the same SE that's just been released. So, if you think the new SE is the phone for you, you may as well get it sooner rather than later and enjoy it for those extra years.

If you can work with the smaller screen of the SE compared to all other current models, it should serve you well for somewhere between 3-5 years. You may want to switch the battery at some stage like with any other iPhone so maybe have that additional cost on your radar.
