I visit my local Apple Store everyday at 5pm to check if they have any Apple Pencil or Smart Keyboard Cover. It's a small town and really not many people visit the Apple Store everyday. The staff in the store already know me... Really embarrassing right now...

Why not just call?

They should be embarrassed for working at Apple right now. This is a terrible roll out. I love Apple but every year is getting worse. With their online preorder games. Hold your head up. You are the consumer. Without our money they wouldn't be able to operate.

I've always been embarrassed, probably not the right word.
But I can't take an Apple store seriously.
It's like going up on stage and pretending the cardboard painted scenery is real.
Then I'd feel like this as smile at any designer type/branded store. I just can't accept the manufactured fakery that goes along with what's supposed to be an experience.
Sorry.
It's like a length of chain, draped over some fake silk, which itself is draped over some cardboard box's with fake crystals scattered about and some tiny spotlights.
It's just a length of chain, which comes off a 100m long spool that's churned out by a machine all day long in a factory.
Putting on a pretend show for me, wearing a branded outfit and trying to smile all day.
It's just not real.

Bring them coffee and donuts when you go in. They will look forward to your visit and they just might put an item aside for you when they get stock.
They won't set it aside for me when the pencil and keyboard come. They know once I get my stuff, I won't come in and bring them snacks anymore!

Your embarrassed because your afraid they will see what an Apple junkie you are. It's terrible I know :)

Just wait until you see the face palm. That'll do it :D No seriously, call first.

I called a Mall I was right next to. This way it was unlikely they would be gone, but guess what? at least 4 other people came in to buy those stupid pens. They probably sold out while i was there. The whole thing was making me nervous, frankly. ....just too much.

I have a higher I don't care what anyone else thinks of me than I thought.

Over the past week, I've made multiple trips to my local Apple Store, including one trip today (after trying on Tuesday). No luck. My Apple.com order (from the day of release) is still saying 4-5 weeks.

My frustration is that the timing of new stock is unpredictable. I wish they'd just hold all new stock deliveries until opening the next day. Then you could just go when they open, and be done with it. And it would be an improvement because you would know, reliably, when to go.

I totally know how you feel. I was only there 2 days in a row, and the Specialist I talked to yesterday saw me today and looked exasperated. This launch has been so effed up. I mean, why are they not rewarding the people who took the time to stay up to pre-order?

Yup. Multiple trips and calls for me too since I got my Pro. I love it....but I need me a Pencil

Your problem is you have too much of a sense of shame. Me? I'd be brazen about it.

"My pencil in yet?"

"...no."

"WHY NOT!"

They likely wouldn't know the answer. Apparently Apple didn't even bother telling them the iPad Pro was going to be available the day it was.
