Actually most women (~80%) are ambidextrous , so are men with feminized brains (~10%)
comes from the hunter gatherer background, women gather with both hands while men need one hand dominance in order to aim and throw projectiles better. " biology is destiny"

And 93% in contemporary world are right handed.
Lefties live less and are more prone to getting depressed and having migraines...
last numbers I saw were that more than 70% of migraine headache sufferers were left handed.

In China (pop. 1,500,000,000) left-handedness is actively discouraged as Chinese writing is heavily right-hand biased. In India (pop. 1,200,000,000) left-handedness is severely frowned upon due to the local custom of how to clean oneself after using the toilet. That last one also goes for several other South-East Asian countries.

Considering that's more than half the human race being forced not to be left-handed for cultural reasons, I think your 93% may be a little skewed in favour of the right-handed.

As for the depression and migraines, the world is right-hand designed. Even Apple now designs for the right-handed (e.g. where is the DVD drive on an iMac?). That's enough to get anyone down, let alone give them a headache.

Im left handed, but I use my right hand to use the mouse....Some things I can do with both hands, but I mainly use left hand to do all writing...

There needs to be a category for cross-dominant. I write with my left as well as do many other activities, but I use my right hand to throw (anything; also, catch with my left in baseball), cut (scissors or knife), and use the mouse (I couldn't do it left-handed if I tried). Because writing is the activity that people use as the litmus test for right/left/ambidextrous handedness I usually just answer "left."

If right-handers use their left brain and are more for math and science and left-handers use their right and are more creative, then ambidextrous have the best of both worlds while we cross-dominants (or mix-handed) get the worst of both worlds :(

right handed...always wanted to be left (just to be different). can write not bad with my left.

both wife and i are right handed.

both kids - left handed!? my oldest has been tested and is 'gifted' so they think the left handed is the creative side coming out. a few lefties in the family, but odd that they are left and we're not. i'm pretty sure they're my kids...except when they're acting up. definitely not mine ;)

Leftys FTW!

Some stuff can be annoying when being left handed, like having to move your fork to the other side in restants, and if you have to copy a picture on a sheet and its on the left, your hand covers it up.

But thats just small stuff, being left handed is... Well I dont really care TBH... so... Yeah.

Left-handedness can come out of nowhere. Myself and two cousins (brother and sister) are left-handed and no one else in the recent history of our families (both sides of all of ours) were lefties.

I disagree. As a lefty it looks harder writing right handed. You have to drag your hand instead of pushing it :p

But as a lefty, we are constantly smudging work we've just written, and it is basically impossible to use fountain pens.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous! :D

I'm right-handed, but there are lefties in the family. Luckily, those genes didn't "inflict" me.

I have sympathy for the poor leftties who have to buy special left-handed scissors, left-handed mice, left-handed toothbrushes, left-handed pencils, and cars with steering wheels on the other side. ;)

I was just about to say that but you said it for me.

The guy that sat next to me in Drawing 101 in HS was always smudging his drawings.

Lets face it, right handed ppl are better:p jk
