Regarding battery life - I'm not sure about this flood light cam, but the stick up cam was rated for 12 months of battery life when set to 720p and 6 months when set to 1080p.

How long would the battery-only version run on one battery?

A lot of it depends on how often you access it, live view, how much motion is captured and viewed etc. We had one that was off the battery and as we used it more (which is expected) the battery went down considerably. We ended up fixing the 12v line from our old door bell. Once it was hardwired zero issues.

We have had zero issues with our solar powered camera that we have in the back yard.
